hmmm, but the lack of coverage or even highlights from day 1 is an absolute disgrace. I mean how are these guys going to accumulate sponsors if no one is able to actually watch the event...
ASP is so simpleminded in its control of the sport, I say bring back Bobby Martinez to stick it up em!!!
One of the kiwis has been knocked out - the other Ricardo Christie is through to the quarters. He is now so close to qualifying its amazing. Just ran the numbers quickly and it looks like it will come down to how a few of the fellas perform at Pipe - e.g. Adam Melling, Wilko, Julian.
Its zoo close - I might be forced to eat my nails.
Unless of course he can make it through to the semis - then he should be home sweet !!!
Thanks - as far as I am concerned he has over achieved already. Good on him. Low key fella who grew up just down the road from TB - a place I spent a lot of time at in my youth at the family batch!

Ahhhhhh
Wilko beats him at the post !! Jeepers.
Now it will come down to who gets the results at Pipe. Ahhhhhhhhh
Guess who I will be cheering on at Pipe
The final hurdle in the road to qualification was crossed today at Sunset Beach, introducing a wealth of new surfers onto the World Tour. Of the 10 surfers that will be stepping into surfing’s upper echelon, the drama tied to Dusty Payne’s Triple Crown journey is unparalleled. After returning to form this winter following a slew of injuries, you’ll recall that Dusty recently won at Haleiwa. In the wake of his victory there, it appeared that Dusty could potentially qualify again for the Tour. It was a long shot, sure, but technically it was possible. All Dusty needed to do was put on a massive showing at Sunset. And that’s precisely what he did today. Not only did the Maui native finish Sunset with a strong second-place showing today, it’s been confirmed that in doing so, he also qualified for the World Tour. If that wasn’t enough, due to an injury replacement (CJ Hobgood won’t be competing at Pipe) he’ll be surfing in the Pipe Masters as well.In addition to Dusty, the following nine surfers have mostly likely accrued enough points to solidify their new positions on the World Tour. “Assuming Toledo, Adriano and Jody hold their Top-22 CT spots, which is sort of a given with their current rankings,” said the ASP’s Al Hunt, “the ‘QS Top 10 [who move onto the World Tour] will be:Banting, Matt AUS Wilson, Julian AUS Dantas, Wiggolly BRA Andre, Jadson BRA Melling, Adam AUS Ferreira, Italo BRA Wilkinson, Matt AUS Asing, Keanu HAW Flores, Jeremy FRA Payne, Dusty HAW
“As long as Julian Wilson and Jadson Andre hold their current Top-22 spots [on the World Tour] Brett Simpson and Ricardo Christie will take 9th and 10th QS spot.”
Watching Dusty and Ricardo at Sunset I really hope they make it as I think they have a lot add to the Tour...
Omg its looking like its going to be a week to remember
I can't wait for Wednesday,
WEDNESDAY 10th: Very solid, reinforcing NW groundswell builds in
SWELL/SURF: Solid 15-20’+ faces, with larger 22’+ sets on 2nd and 3rd reefs if storm behaves as forecast. Pipe likely maxed out with the 3rd Reef wash through sets, although some occasional gems.
WIND: NNE shifting NE wind 10-15kts+. http://www.aspworldtour.com/events/2014/mct/730/billabong-pipe-masters/forecast

your welcome
arms/guns day today
Yeeeeea it's on,,,,yea I think the pressure is his biggest hurdle and being no 1 he may get to see a lot of these trial surfers in the early rounds! good luck to mf ks and medina it's been an exciting year..
P.S it still bugs me,I think medina was way over scored at snapper at the start of the year
Back on the comp Medina will he make it past the second round A lot are saying no.
He won at BIG Chopes earlier in the year - he also stayed on in Hawaii for a very long time at the end of tour in 2013 to do some serious training for this winter season. I see no reason why he can not go deep into the comp unless he bottles it due to the pressure. He is definitely a good enough surfer to make the semi's if you ask me. I am pretty sure he will win the Pipe contest at some stage of his career - lets hope its not this year !
