The Human Zoo - Mr Shark Expert 2016

To cull or not to cull, that is the question. Whether tis nobler to suffer the teeth and fins of predatory savagery, or to take arms against the sea of sharky troubles.

5 years of Facebook eco-warriorship has set Dylan up perfectly to tackle this ****spearen dilemma.

Now, Dylan isn't some green-dicked slacktivist, oh no, his resume is impressive: a 1 day campaign against the Melbourne Cup, a 3 week foray into Veganism and an impassioned 2 day appeal against the execution of Harambe the Gorilla:

"An animal that size would've dropped in 2 second with a standard tranq dart. Look, Gorillas are ENDANGERED and there's ****ing tons of humans, if we kill things cos they are a danger to kids why don't we start executing Paedophiles... humans suck".

Dylan expertly drove the stingray spine of profoundness through the heart of the issue. How could we even think of killing a Gorilla when rock-spiders hide in the cracks of indecency.

His fellow Perthnow experts praised his eco-diplomacy and his 78 likes elevated him to Irwin-esque proportions in the keyboard-conservationist world.

Given the whole shark debacle is trending again, Dylan chooses to reignite his campaign in support of the man in the grey suit:

"First of all we enter their habitat! Secondly, a shark is an APEX PREDATOR... APEX! So sad to hear all these barbarians call for the cull of such a majestic creature. We'd be better of culling humans, besides it would be an honour to be taken by such a worthy predator. I ****ING HATE HUMANS AHHH".

Oh yeh baby, that “humans are worthless” angle is edgy as ****. As edgy as an internet atheist with a barcode tattoo banging his step sister at a Linkin Park concert.

Like anyone who aggressively puts animal life above humans, Dylan is coming of a well adjusted as a Sea Shepherd slurry arguing with her dolphin-dildo because it wants to come up for air.

Dylan isn't done. Not by a long short. He decides to rehash the monologue that helped him fingerblast a hairy armpit'd moon-unit after a gluten free bender at the Raw Kitchen:

"Stopping shark attacks is basic ****. Firstly, stop cage diving as that changes their nature. Secondly, we must utilise short-pulse submarine noises to encourage the sharks to leave populated waters HUMANELY. 150hz should do it. It isn't rocket science, **** humans lol".

You're right Dylan, it's not rocket science, it's marine biology and you don't obtain a degree from the university of advanced **** talking.

Like anyone with a true passion, Dylan will dump his shark campaign the minute it stops trending. He will stay suspiciously silent on the culling policy of countless other species that aren't quite as "majestic" as sharks.

Rest assured, he will however maintain a smug air of superiority because of the 300 odd words he wrote in support of an issue he hijacked for a couple of likes and shares.

No wonderful person should ever die, but to be honest I still think there's too many oxygen thieves on the planet that we are better off without. Pedo's, rapist and murders for s start......perhaps we could dangle that lot off big lines out to sea away from the surf dive and swimming beaches lile free vending machine for sharks? Save some serious tax payers dollars as well!

And beating a drum that heaps are sick of if we really value Human life so much, why aren't we putting the same effort and attention to the hundreds of people that are killed on roads?, the shark debate is really active with heaps including myself getting into it but unfortunately I've lost too many wonderfull people to road accidents and no one seems to give a ****, we've accepted or become complacent to the road toll and flip, out at sharks.

anyway, bad humans on the line out at see to feed curious sharks seems like a win win? And we'll never run out of bait.

Surf 69, I do agree we as humans spend far much compassion for oxygen thief's, but will we ever have the choice of capital punishment again? As for road toll, the sad part is in most unfortunate deaths on the road it is the perpetrator or group breaking the law that survives. Some humans are not all on my favourite list and that is another problem our world leaders have to deal with.
What we are faced with is entering the ocean and feeling as safe as we possibly can. 1 theory I like is the sounds of orca being played through the ocean. I am not sure on the way this can be implemented and the effects of other ocean habitants, but it sounds like a plausible theory. I read that the tests are to be conducted in Africa, but I haven't read of any results. I am open to any really good ideas that work well.

Hey Waterman,

The Mrs's is a Marine Biologist specialising in Orca. I'll see if i can get any descent info and forward it on.

I like the sound of the idea but given that Orca have individually unique "voice's" (for want of a better word) i would think a repetitive loop may only be effective in the short term. It's quite possible that Sharks who frequent the area could get used to the call's eventually ignoring the threat.............................

Which in turn could also lead them to being complacent when really threatened, so not taking flight when hunted by Orca, and hey presto there you have a culling program encouraged by us but managed by nature.

Ill see what she has, and if anything, ill send it on.

It was a good piece, and you have to commend Dave for pouring his heart, soul and every last cent into the project, not to mention paddling out at Reunion and putting total faith in his product. I'm extremely skeptical of many of his competitors though who appear to spend far more on marketing their product than they do on testing and developing it!

I watched the news report with the Mrs, and she suggested I get a Rpela straight away.

Good work Dave
Thanks for posting guys.
Couple of thoughts:
1 Good to see a proactive piece on mitigation
2 Interesting that the French are looking to subsidise these units. That is a great outcome for a lot of hard work.
3 I think it would be fascinating to see some data on 'herd immunisation', ie what is the effect on sharks of say 30 people in an area with the units. Would it stop a shark getting a head of steam up for a charge. ( Some posts on seabreeze have doubted that a single unit would stop a shark in attack mode...)

RPELA is mobile- you buy 1 unit and then as many docking units as you need for your boards

Dave just installed mine in my EVO, that has a double concave but a channel bottom may be difficult. Best would be to contact them directly.

Its going to come down to space thats all..

Any photos

I know the unit is designed to have the weight in-between the fins, but i guess for most people it may not make any difference if the unit ran backwards, I'm not sure if that would be possible? once again you'd have to ask the experts..

Really, what started off as news, then condolences for the family, then full blown skark debate and now posting what board I have.

It's time to delete this post, if you can't show some respect and compassion then don't bother posting.

Take a loook at the other forums, they are more interested in their chosen sport and being stoked about sharing their experiences.

It's disappointing to say the least

Any difference between the ab1 and ab2 fins by shapers they have the same dimensions. The only difference I can see is the carbon insert is bigger on the ab2

I'm with the other guy, show some respect and take your fin BS elsewhere and seriously ask a pro regarding fin advice, those fins are a carbon copy and only a pro would notice the difference.
