Dave,
Nice to see you get your ad up on SB.
Hope its all going well for you mate..
My two are still going strong,,, thankfully I haven't had to test them (that I'm aware of!)
I feel a little happier when going down south these days.

The other day I paddled out in deep, dark and sharky waters on my own anyway coz it was pumping.
Never been so scared in all my life. So much so that I had to paddle back in.
Even more scared than when I was on my own getting bombs and I saw a 4m white that closed 3 beaches that morning while the chopper waved me in!
Its what you don't and cant see that gives me the creeps.
Would buy a SurfSafe in 10 heart beats which by the way is a second under the circumstances hahaha but I'm waiting for the unit to have the ability to be changed from board to board as I use a number of boards.
A sick product Dave! Keep up the good work. I know a few places you should come down and we can do some testing

just buy a couple for a couple of boards then its yr choice whether you shield up or not, sometimes it feels good to live on the edge other times u need the zapper just to paddle out. The more that are bought the better. the more in the water the better think a dozen of these paddling around the lineup and suddently we have an annoying pack of seals and the big fish will go hunt real seals

Hey Guys

Are there any quick release boxes available, or do you still have to glass these units in?
Would be great if you could swap the unit between boards.

i also would be much more inclined to buy the product if it was interchangeable between boards.

Good point by Greenroom.
it would be good if you could screw the unit out.
like a fin box. the box could be fitted into the board then the unit could screw in and out of.
maybe even a cover to replace the unit when not using or for selling the board.

i would pay the bucks for one, but not one for every board.

If you buy one and put it on your favorite or the board you use on the outer reefs or where the men in grey suits are more prone then at least you have protection. The more people in the water with them the better. Who knows if we all get them then maybee we want need any other measures.

Thats the best advice.

As the way the product works, its need a distance to be able to separate the electrodes to work well. The mains power source in Surfsafe is between the fins, (the least likely spot to be damaged and the second electrode is up under the front foot. Those two are connected by a wire and if they were not fitted internally in the board, it just wouldn't work.

The shark Shield product works on the main power source on the rear of the board and a lead hanging down into the water. So technically you sit just next to the safest spot, not to mention if the lead is sitting on the surface, its not working.

Shark shield received money from the state government to try and make a system were the electrodes are in the fins and therefor removable. But that system for what i understand still needs the power source fitted under the tail pad. SO you would still need to have multiple boards fitted with a power source and the fins would then just be the electrode. But Dave explained to me that fins don't allow for very wide electronic circuit (being so close to each other) as well as they simply are often the first thing smashed on a surfboard.

The ECS i think is more or less a leg worn system that you can move from board to board. More like a leg rope.

I think by the simple nature of what they are we will never see something like surf safe that will move from board to board. The best we could hope for, is it goes viral and the price can be helped by shear volume of sales

The above is just from my understanding and i could be wrong, (But i don't think i am) Maybe Dave when he gets back can confirm

Dave was out in the lineup at Rotto a little while ago and it made me feel better thinking he had one underneath his board. He left not long after I got in though!

I have them on 2 boards...shorty and step up....Use them exclusively during shark season (July to December). Use my non surf safe boards in off season. Remember surf safe is about half the price of shark shield and not only that it actually is functional for surfers.

Thanks Jb
as you said the new shark shield concept potentially has huge floors and most people believe that it is just in a fin system
it has to be installed to each board individually and will b costly??
I have had a great response and support overseas and yes hopefully someday it will be tranfserable but it needs to be 100% fool proof
and work in the harshest conditions not as easy as it sounds
so far this product is the best we can offer and will continue the costly R&D to keep surfers safe thanks for all the support .

Good interview with DMac in that TT program as we'll...seems like he loves the surf safe eh Dave. Gotta say...I wouldn't even surf down South between July and Dec any more if didn't have the surf safe.
