Kellys looking sharp. Great nite on the box. Footy surfing cricket. Good winters night in.

Bit quiet at J Bay. Poms have the test in hand. Lucky the Eagles won. Not much going on in here either!

Kelly's mind games won him that last heat against Kolohe Andino
I thought Kolohe had grown up after his Fiji dummy spit the other year
The footage of him punching the crap out his board after not getting the score at J Baii was a bit embarrassing
A bit of emotion is good but he is supposed to be a role model for the groms
You would of had hundreds of poor kids from the townships watching that would of loved to own that board rather than see it blatantly destroyed by a rich seppo kid
I wonder if Perrow will fine him

It's been a slow paced comp. Hope there is some swell for the weekend

I reckon the WSL really needs to shorten the events and do away with the no loser rounds. More often than not there's too much pressure to run the opening rounds and the surfers are sent out in sub standard conditions as with the first round at J Bay. The so called Brazillian storm have a massive advantage as they all specialize in surfing pus and heaps of the better surfers are getting knocked out because they cant pull an air reverse in the slop.

Agreed genuine, MR and The Box with size was great to watch but you're right SP, mostly it's been pretty ordinary.

Agree on Fiji. Owen was on fire

MR. Good to watch but it is a tough venue for a comp.
Main break is fine but it is a complete lottery at the box and near impossible for a goofy to get out of a heat

I remeber 3 good heats. Owen, Ace and ? By backhanders and every other heat was won by a natural footer.

As I said great to watch but **** if your meal ticket is on the table and you have your right foot forward..

But hey.
Still heaps better then RIO. That is the worst event in tour..

Agree with all thats been said.

Apart from MG and Fiji it has been a boring year thus far, hoping for some better at Tahiti then the Euro beachies which are good viewing when pumping.

I'm getting pretty tired of 5'5 60kg blokes doing air reverses in 2-3ft waves and getting 9 point rides.

agree about Rio, they need to take that off the tour. there must be better waves around there than that.

Owen at Fiji is the standout for me so far this year, he was on fire. Huge commitment and great barrel riding combined with big powerful vertical turns on the same waves.

couldnt agree more, best comp by far this year.

maybe they need to open the waiting period more to allow for better conditions.

MR was pretty good also, watching some of the guys like Jay Davies, JJF, Owen, Josh Kerr charge at the box was awesome viewing. Was also interesting to see some of the small waves specialist guys pulling back. Toledo looked like he was actually ****ting himself out there.
Then the finals at main break was good watching also, Kelly's barrel then huge hack would be pushing it against Owen's waves at Fiji for the best wave in competition so far this year IMO.
Fiji then MR then clear daylight.

I think they should revert back to having backup sites for the CT comps
It will never happen though due to that much crap to ship from A to B.
These QS conditions are good news for the abrazos though

How good is it to see Julian monging on a banana before paddling out for the final instead of sucking back a redbull or mueseli bar etc?
