They couldn't send either of them back out. Like I said in another thread, that sort of thing changes a man and I imagine Fanning will only start to feel its effects as the hours and days go by. I feel for the poor man.

Mick's obviously been a graduate of the batman school of shark fighting!

That was heavy watching live. When that wave passed between Mick and the camera and you could still see splashing, I thought the worst.

Big props to Julian who paddled to help Mick and fast as he could.

Strangely enough while watching earlier in the day. I thought to myself "imagine if there was a shark attack. It would be seen live"

Man, Mick said it right... "trippin!"

Your not wrong
i couldn't believe what I was watching
Such a sense of relief to see Mick climb onto the jetski unhurt
The commentators were lost for words
Never seen anything like it watching live sports

Bat Man needs to sell some of his shark repelant to the world. Maybe we could see what he has in his jungle truck. There might be snake repellant. I could use that around here. Hah never know he might have some SUP repellant bahaha.

Commissioner Gordon needs that working calculator they used to determine the world champ from the other year.
Points on offer for a WCT final = 18,000 points
Points given for final at J Bay = 16,000 points
Missing = 2,000 points
Back to school Commissioner Gordon
Could be the difference between another Brazo world champ or an Aussie

thinking it would be a big bull if that was the case, not sure how big a bull shark would get 3.5m+??

Yes they can get that big. In fact bigger bull sharks are starting to pop up especially in the East of Australia.

I find it interesting that the scientific community can't decide what it was. I would have felt it clear from the pics but it seems to be a 50/50 split. Many locals to the Jay Bay area are saying a Bull shark. I don't think it was 3.5 m though. I would have topped it at 3 m tiny bit over maybe IMHO

Those few thousand points very well could prove rather important down the track

So they split the prize money down the middle receiving $70,000 each
Following what they did with the championship points and keeping it consistent Commissioner Gordon should of gave them maybe $60,000 each and made the remaining $20,000 disappear. Like the 2000 points
Maybe place a bet on a a Brazo for the title and spend the winnings on a new WSL table

Yeah they agreed, less than an a hour after almost being eastern by a shark...impaired judgement maybe just a little bit. Mick said he was happy to never compete again, not a frame of mind of a bloke about to argue over the points that might decide the world title.

Equal first is 10000 each, I've never heard of equal second without a winner?

9000 is fair for all.

Rule 18.02 apparently ..
Prize Money will be paid to Surfers in the position they would receive if eliminated in next possible opportunity in the Event.

It does seem a bit harsh getting a second. Rules are rules. End of the day I reckon everyone would be happy with the outcome.
