I'm fit and have a full head of hair. I'm afraid I do not qualify to ride a SUP.

Yeh Ted, The shortest of rooms looked very quiet last night. So I put up a good night post and hit the sack. My fondest memories were on a shortboard. But that was 30kg ago - those days are long gone. I love the janitor call

But - if you weren't 30kg heavier, what would you choose to ride I am also about 25kg over my fighting weight... but I surf a 7'3" Fish... and on the smaller days (read: tiny) a 9'1" mal... At 45yo I don't ever see myself crossing to the dark side...

reminds me of that old quote about longboarders and sup riders "the only thing that gets better when you ride one is how good you were "

Like Scotty I love the SUP pi$$ take. It's a classic. I ride one, as I ride shortboards as well and nobody hates SUP riders more than me. But then i'm not fat or bald so perhaps I don't fit in that well....... Hahaha.

Hey CMC, Love the banter with Sup & Sb. I actually caught a post where a windsurfer and kite surfer were having a blow up - I think on the general. Gotta laugh at that. Still loving that Mad Wax vid thanks mate. Owe you plenty of beers next time I'm up QLD.

If I was 30kg lighter I would do both Sup and SB. SB has so much freedom on the wave and the luxury of enjoying varied conditions. On a Sup I only go out when it's glassy. Getting caught inside is a pain in the arse on a Sup - duck diving is just too easy when on SB. Mate, I love Sup in the surf and flatwater. I don't see Sup as an old blokes sport - unlike longboard (Mac's not going to like that).

'Fruitbooting' is a term skaters affectionately gave to rollerbladers. I'm sure you can go quick on sup skaties Chrispy, but what's wrong with using your leg to push? Always worked for me Anyway.... Shortboarding is underrated! Let's see what surfcraft is still around in 50 years

Try riding a sup in waves that throw out and barrel top to bottom eg most decent reef breaks i in sw wa. Id like to know if u think its the shortboard or sup thats overrated for those conditions. What is really the soul motivation to surf?Getting tubed for me.

I went for a sweep for the first time the other day at rotto. It was good for tuning rich birds on big boats. But out in the surf it was just plain homo

I live in the sw and ride waves that throw out top to bottom half the time Usually out on the 8'5 x 29 in waves over head high and just bought a 9'6 x 27 gun for those double over head high plus days Today had empty top to bottom waves while you blokes were sooking at work See you out there this winter

Dear Greenroom. I also live down south. If you're talking about yallingup mains I wold challenge u saying it barrels especially the left which is where I see most long boarders and sup locals riding. I'll see u out supers! By the way I'm not saying you can't have fun on a sup. just it's very hard to get tubed on em as the photos everyone's posted show. For old guys n women I suppose they're worth while.
