Hey there,

Sorry if this topic has been posted before but I am looking at purchasing my boyfriend a surf watch for Chrissy and would really appreciate some advice. He surfs all the time so I have been looking into surf/tide watches but I am reading a lot of mixed reviews. Are there any particular features that you really like in a surf watch? Or other features that perhaps are not as useful or are annoying?

He also runs daily and is quite competitive with himself so I am hoping to find a watch that can track running and surfing. Can anyone recommend a particular watch?
Anyone help would be awesome. Thanks :)

Nixon Mission is the only one that I know of that does both. Saying that I know nothing about other smart watches on the market, just know that this has Trace on it which will track his surfs.

RipCurl Search GPS is no good for running.

And sorry to confuse the issue, but in my opinion Nixon are crap. The band will give out in salty water before the battery dies. That'll make it bin-able.

I have the Garmin Fenix 3 that is a waterproof GPS sports watch, so running is covered. I use it fot MTbiking
There is an App called Big Wave Dave, for wave count etc as per the photo.
Black data is the last wave and red the best for the session
Just checked and looks like there is a tide chart app, so will have to get that one

The new Apple 2 is waterproof and has GPS. Dont know about surf apps or how tough it is

Look at Casio Protrek range and pick which is more suitable..no tides there, but it's bloody good watch and value for the money.
