i would expect that there would be a deal of some sort struck up between the 2 parties - you could speculate that it could be a per unit payment or an upfront development payment -or a combo of both - who knows - the possibilities are endless Its probably info private to both parties. I do know more people win on the riding side as these shapes become accessible to more riders As a long time surfer i really appreciate how amazingly tight these boards turn -even the 90 litre board is crazy loose but drivey at the same time- with fast plane up performance which in turn leads to lots of jumps and super control in the air - so you can super spin fwds and correct pushies / backies mid rotation. I have very little time nor tolerance for boards that are: 1. Turny but slow 2. Fast but stiff

The first review of the Starboard Nuevo 80 is out - this is basically a custom Nude Chopper design (a twin fin shape a bunch of us here in Australia have been loving ) with some small variations - notably a slightly faster rocker line (the original rocker line was pretty fast to plane up anyway
Just out of interest does Hoops get anything from Starboard for 'designing' their new wave board ?

i reckon the wave market has a few segments.
yeah... what about the 90kg+ market. Totally overlooked by most brands. Yes, some make big wave boards but they are really light wind wave boards for lighter guys.

Why not just lose some f$&@kn weight. Or get a board custom made for a fat person?

Starboard 95 litre fish totally ripped back in the day (10 years ago or more) - i could totally throw it around with my 80 kg - super vert reos on tap in virtually no wind it planed up super early too - so was nuts for getting a big ol pile of jumps real fast If you couldnt make that board turn then there were other reasons to be looked at other than board shapes... Some of the larger evos were VERY sweet too - although they were very sensitive to mast track positioning - if you got it right - amazing - a little too far back or forward and they pushed water - my Nude chopper 90 has a bit of that going on too. Some of the crew that had the Evos didnt rate them for planing - which i think was lack of tuning / lack of info from manufacturer i suspect the tuning message could have been communicated a little more effectively at the time.

hm... I don't think you are referring to the Evo XL? That wasnt a particulalry great board. Yes it turned super awesome when on a wave. The only problem was that by the time you got the board on the plane the wave was long gone. And yes, I tried everything humanly possible... Changed mast position in ever which possible way, switch several different fin styles and sizes, changed up the foot strap position, it just wouldn't make a difference. I actually got to the point where I thought it was me but after talking to a few other people that had the board it became clear everyone else had a similar experience. What was the big secret to get board going?

The 100L Evo xtv is a great board as long as the waves are smooth and you know how to weight a rail with your front foot. There is no secret to using one. I think most heavy guys are just heavy footed and a bit clumsy. That said, I hope my new (second hand) 99L Chopper is even better.

Jesus!!! "a bit fat" sludger? C'mon. ...... You should hit the steam room for abit and get down to a size you can enjoy your sailing as opposed to spend your time sitting in front of the computer with an 8 course meal complaining about there being not enough production board for fat people.
