Saw this at the RSL way back then, with the Wanda crowd.
Old days when RSLs used to have sunday night movies.
Nicole was so less plasticy then.
fanbloody tastic only halfway thru it but this is so much fun thanks for posting
now i see they were both wooden actors back then too and they never did change...gees never got why burlo was so popular and still dont get it but the movie is a blast.
cracked me up when she went to her gigs in a Morry convertible ..farout I went to all my gigs in various Morris Minors from sedans and convertibles to panelvans and woodies mainly because when one was broken down i had a second registered morris minor to keep me going while I fixed the first..so thats why it cracked me up plus my first decent band was formed from musos i had sold Morris Minors to....
Gotta say though her Morry is a choptop not a factory convertible . Morry Minors started me off as a vanner having a Morry van in the vanning era..still have a VU sandman project car and a couple of 1950 Fargo vans left..but often i had to grab my convertible and fill it up with keyboards and PA gear.. Got a big kick out of the band fooling around with the sampler [probably the first Mirage although I dont know the date of this movie?] they did exactly like every muso did then when they met their first sampler. Usually you walked into a music shop and every sampler had the local's burbs and belches programmed in.. Enjoying this on so many levels.
oh and I have heaps of Z booms hanging around

Hard to believe 30+ years ago, Pierre. Who's still windsurfing from the original Wanda crew?
Bono is speed sailing with us over here. Cheers JJ

"Plasticy"....how dare you. Her boobs just kept growing and so did her lips.
Noice.
I hadn't seen this since the eighties, but my memory had the sinking car scene a bit different...I recalled the car and driver sink beneath the water after failing to make the jump to the ferry (who's ramp was mysteriously lowered while underway), and then suddenly up pops P.C. on a fully rigged board and sails off. Watching it again I was a little disappointed to see they show a quick cut of him rigging on the water. My memory's version was much better.
And yeah, lil Nic was pretty bad, but to be fair she has had one or two oscar noms since. Hard to believe she's only a few years shy of fifty.
It's been a long time since I saw that movie.
Only in movie-land can Dave Sheen bottom bottom on a wave at Coronation Beach and turn off the lip at a Perth beach. That was a bloody long wave ride!
I saw this when it came out and watched most of it again a few weeks ago (Youtube). One of my ex work mates from the early 90s was an extra in the film. He had a broken leg at the time and very blonde spiky hair. Apparently you can see him in a couple of shots - one in a carpark and one in a pub I think. He told me that he and a bunch of local sailboarders were the extras. Funny to watch 30 years later. One of Nicole's best efforts probably... that and BMX Bandits.
