I am looking at getting one of these camera mounts as I have a water proof digital camera. They are both very cheap, was wondering if any of you have one or tried them?
The first one is $18 delivered. It has a swivel mount and can take up to 33mm tube (I am assuming this will fit a boom, I measured my chinook and its around 32mm).
This one is only $6.70 delivered! Also has swivel, but looks like it would be quicker to get on/off the boom and will fit up to 35mm tube.
How robust do you think they will be? Don't want to take one run out and my camera and/or mount breaks off
I think Ive used the first one. It doesn't swivel in two directions like the second one so couldn't get the right angl on the boom.
Just use a safety rope attaching camera to boom as a back up.
The second one looks like it will have weak points around the swivel points.
The plastic teeth are very small and you might get some slipping due to premature wear.
buy a couple of the second one (when first one is worn throw it, for 7 $ who cares...)
Just remember to attach the camera with the wrist strap to the boom....
The only problem you may have with it is corrosion or rusting if it's not stainless and at that price I'd doubt it. Might be able to replace the steel parts with stainless. I went with a Flymount, good for 20 to 50mm tube and stainless hardwear but costs $99.
