I am sure this has been asked but where can we get cool sail numbers from. I contacted JP to try and get details about their font and or production but got nothing back 
Contacted a motorcross company on the web (still nothing)
So thought- where else but trusty seabreeze. Where do people get them from and can they post their details and approx cost per set? Only post if they last a couple of seasons please.
Want some in a similar JP style font (doesnt need to be same) and in differnet colours. |

I've not had them done but anyone who does digital printing on vinyl should be able to make them for you with any font and colours you like.

yep any signwriter can do them for you. I had mine done white vinyl on black vinyl in 5 or 7 year stuff (sticks awesome yet still flexible) at $15 per side. You can get them printed but this is actually more expensive at $20-25 per side and print can wear eventually. If you going for something that is odd font like jp wave guys have you are probably best going printed (& dont quote me on price).

I found a great guy in Canberra who did a fantastic job on my stickers and has very reasonable prices. See Jeff at addcolour - ph 02 6280 4106 or www.addcolour.com.au for a quote. They were half the price of anything I've seen on seabreeze before and he takes care of the artwork for nothing unless it's really intricate. It would be especially worthwhile to get a few people together as the price would be even cheaper (something to do with the size of a vinyl roll). Here are a couple of photos of my new numbers. He also made me some boxing kangaroo stickers because I wanted something extra when I compete in the Prokids freestyle and slalom World Championships here in Bonaire at the end of July. I'm really starting to look like a legend now (Kai and Robbie) - hoping to out-psyche the other under 11 year-olds  ...

Thanks! I'm looking forward to the competition and it's going to be fun. The kids that I've seen here are all sooo good. I keep thinking I'm not going to be good enough but Dad says they are all a fair few years older than me...
I think that sail is big too - it's a 4.2 and it's my biggest one! It doesn't feel too heavy though coz it's got a really light mast (1kg). I like using my 3 and 3.6 most of the time. I haven't really had much of a chance to use my new set of Naish sails yet - just got the masts a short time before we left for Bonaire.

DIY numbers.
You can make professional looking numbers in any form or design you can imagine from 'Contact' the stuff that kids cover their school books with or desk drawers or whatever. Buy a roll from Big W or newsagents, black,white or any color. Made mine black on red and they stay on the sails as good as anything. I do this every time I get a new sail.
Just needs patience to design and cut em out. Cost - couple of bucks.  |

I did these with my vinyl plotter, They take about 15 mins to cut and apply and cost all of about $5...but you do need a PC and plotter to make it happen, Any sign maker can cut them for you.

I was just going though the rules as they pertain to the sail numbers and they seem quite restrictive in respect to how much creative liberty you can use.

I take it that if you want funky sailnumbers you will not be able to participate in any events as they would not conform to the rules.
Any Australian officials that can give us some guidance? |

The sailnumber rules are for the racing classes "RS:X, Formula Experience, Raceboard, Slalom and Techno293"
If you are not racing in those classes these rules do not apply.

Can you have letters as well? maybe silly question - but:
BB109 etc?

If you are not competing you can put anything you want on your sail.
But if you are competing, the AWA issues sail numbers in Australia
AUS-711 etc. You can choose the number (if it is not already taken), and you can keep that number for as long as you are a member. For many the number has become their brand, www.aus120.com, www.aus911.com etc
BB109 may be accepted by your local club, but not at any event run under international rules. If you show up with BB109, someone else has B8109 and another has BB1O9 imaging the scoring issues.
Be aware, histroically it was accepted practice to allow personalised sail numbers in Australia, but that was ceased a number of years ago. Every member of the AWA has an AUS- number assigned. I would imagine it was a nightmare to manage the AWA insurance policy without a robust register of members, and it would have caused mayhem at events for race officials.
