We are in the grip of the strongest La Nina in 30 years and here in Oz the wind has been c..p!!!. But it could be worse. Jocelyn De Souza, our young KA Team rider from France, just sent us this photo from his local beach. I know I have been tempted to go out in rubbish conditions when my new sails have just arrived, but I think this is maybe taking it to extremes!!!

Its the same in the UK. One week of cold north/north easterlies. 4 Days of freezing below zero weather here on the south coast. Yesterday the south westerlies started again - Overnight - FFS! They died before sunrise. Then came back for two hours after sunset! Forecast for rest of december is cold north east winds again - hopefully too soon to predict the end of the month, but pretty certain it will be like that over the next week at least. javascript:insertsmilie('') I am (perhaps naively) hoping that this early winter for us will bring some good weather from Jan 1st when I start my 1000 mile challenge for charity.

It would be more fun to have some snow rather than the rain and humid weather we currently have. Pretty amazing to see solid settled seaside snow in France. It must be absolutely frozen in continental Europe

For a minute there I thought someone had stolen their board... On closer inspection, taking the belaclava into consideration, now I reckon someone's missing a rig! ...or maybe going by the dress code (nice shorts!) she just refuses to remove her burka!

Actually where i sail it's not so much the body temperature that limits the sailing, modern wetsuits are really good. But once you have -20 -30 C windchill the board and boom freezes over, so Jibing is impossible because the board is a skating rink and you can't really hold on to the boom, on the plus side it makes you really commit to the lines and learn to quickly get into the straps. My local spot just froze over, so sad Most likely it will last until march
