On the first vid, I slowed the speed to .25 and a rough finger measure has the jump at at least 7 board lengths before separation that's some serious projection

Elmo did you teach AA your signature move!!!

Only the bit at the end, when I jump it's regularly without the board
I clearly remember this vid from the same event years ago (when AA was on JP boards) blazing past most of the fleet on the one reach:
I wonder what the speeds are?
Antoine said his GPS watch showed 37 knots.
Matteo did overtake Antoine on that first Final leg, but in the other one, going deep didn't quite work as well and he lost 2nd to a blistering finish from Pierre.
A camera effect does make the closer windsurfer look faster than the ones further away, so part of the speed differential is sometimes from that.
A.A.is a machine.he always uses a sail which is half a meter than the rest.it amazing how he holds it down in 35 knot winds.
Was watching the live link, and AA was being interviewed by Ben, AA said he was on his smallest board, an xfire 98 and a 5.6m, he said his max speed on his GPS watch was 35 knots. A few guts only registered a 6.2 as their smallest sail, Steve Allan and Cyril M included. Best PWA slalom event for years
Cyril and Steve are probably regretting that decision now especially if AA is on a 5.6. Bit of a risk registering a 6.2 as your smallest considering you can register 6 sails.
So how strong was the wind?
Using a small sail like a 5.6m over a 6.2 / 6.3m in say winds averaging 30 knots should give you a faster peak time - though not necessarily be faster overall.
A lot better in the gybes too.
Once fully powered up I'm a lot faster on my 5.5 than on my 6.6.

Wow Pete sounds like you have this stuff sorted, maybe PWA slalom next year ?
If you look really hard you can actually see the board touch the water , but there going so fast you cant really tell !!!!! My sphincter was pucking just watching , and I thought I go fast at times ,looks like I got a bit of work to do !

I reckon in the gusty and choppy condition, they are looking more for control, not absolute max speed/power. I guess its way tougher than it looks on the live stream, when you see so many top racers crashing out, you just know its hard conditions. If I was there, i'd be on the rescue boat more than my board :)
Day 6 had winds in excess of 40 knots .most of the fleet crashed or went into survival mode.the two heavyweights matteo & A.A were neck & neck both on there smallest regestied gear .matteo justed piped antoine on the finish.
Any body know what the weight the heaviest Northsails riders is? Noticed all North guys have only registered a 9m as their biggest sail. 9.6m still the Warp range, surely the 9m cant be as powerful as the 9.6m or are all this years North riders under 85kg?
Sorry to change the subject!!!!
I've tried the 9m 2016 Warp - and it's plenty big enough
Windsurfing is not fun being on sails bigger than 8.6 / 8.7
40 knots - I'd be on my 3.3
