Hey Tornado sounds like you are gybing from the back seat(leaning back too much). This causes the tail of your board to sink and kills your speed. Try leaning forward more to try and engage more rail in the water. This will get your board flatter and enable it to hold it speed through the turn.

Cheers Bender

What bender said.

We've all been there, and know the feeling! You're most likely going straight downwind and slowing down.

Number one tip is as Bender said don't lean back.
Number two tip is to keep your weight well inboard of the turn: try to get your chest over the inside rail level with the mast base. It feels like you're going to fall over forwards but surprisingly you don't... When you're there the board will keep turning as you pass through the wind, you need to remember to keep opening the sail as the board carves underneath you.

That's the hardest bit sorted, then you can plane out clew first if you like and flip the rig at your leisure. Once you can do this then make the rig flip earlier and earlier until you're flipping at the same time as you change feet.

Strib's, its not the baldness (which I can relate to), its the stubborn refusal to let go of the last remaining 5 strands of hair

Stribo, How will I recognise you now?? Since I last saw you, you have a new board, new sail, and now a haircut. If you also tell me that you have a different van I will be really stuffed (I will assume that you haven't lost weight as well). You may have to reintroduce yourself!

I shouldn't make comments about Stribo without offering up something here myself.

Cocos - nothing really special about the gybe, I just like the backdrop and the setting!
