Nice looking boards. I'm not a wave sailor, but isn't cross-sideshore a tortology?

They look sick! No fancy colours. Just plain white for that surfboard look. How did they go? I bet they ride unreal Rider? Years of experience right there. Cant wait to try them

You'll need to dumb that statement down a bit for me, maybe just the word at the end. I figure onshore(direct) is blowing straight on from sea to land Cross onshore from sea to land but at an angle cross sideshore wind blows parrallel to the coast cross offshore land out to sea but at an angle offshore straight out to sea from land.

Hmm maybe! I think after sailing my old board(below) 98% of the time for the last 3 years(and I do a lot of sailing), the board and I have become one! It's like an extension of me.

If you couldn't find it in the dictionary it's because I misspelt it. Tautology: "saying of the same thing twice over in different words" (Aust. Oxford English Dictionary) Basically I thought a "cross" wind would be a "side" wind, so "cross shore" and "side shore" mean the same thing, so saying "cross side shore" is repeating the concept of where the wind is blowing from twice. But don't worry, I'm just being very pedantic because there's been no wind.

I really like the solid bold colours you use on your boards Rider. Have you tried any other techniques in applying colour?

Don't do resin tinting, too hard to fix when you smash it and Hoop will get a head swell I like all white, noice and cool in the sun all day and did I mention easy to fix when you smash it?

Nah looks nice, Hoops ones that look like swirls in bowling balls are nice. Troppo's one is one of the nicest boards I've ever seen..... but for me I'd still go all white and any designs that are on the board stop a good 5mm in from the rails

Graphics is a bit of a damned if you do damned if you don't thing. Make a nice white board and people will tell you it's too booring. Make a really loud ,out there paint job and people tell you it's too over the top. That's the good thing about custom boards, you can do what you want. Nice looking boards by the way Mike. (bit booring looking though)

"damned if you do damned if you don't thing" yep you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time I copped a bit years ago from strangers when I did a board for myself with huge strawberries on it, I like strawberries Each to his own.

I did ! I coloured the epoxy laminated white, I read a while back that tints and pigments can weaken the resin matrix a bit, even at the 2 to 3% they recommend and that the liquid tints produce a slightly weaker laminate than the powder( I've searched the net for ages looking for the article again, but I cant find it) So I sourced a powdered form of opaque tint and added it to my resin. I didn't do the swirl thing as after doing many, many test panels with liquid and powdered pigments I couldn't get the clarity I was after, see pics below of what I was after and as the boards were for me I didn't want the "muddy" look, so I went for boring white. After a lot of research I found out that as epoxy takes so long to set, the colours bleed into each other, but if done in polyester resin as in the pics you can mix in an additive to make it set within minutes giving clean clear definitions. like below I love this board below

I'm not sure I just grabbed the pics of swaylocks showing what is being done in surfboards I don't think the box has been put in yet or he may just glass on the fins, I think the guy who did that one is a living legend.

Well Flip been readin lots of your amusing posts and well er Im not sure your ready for one of these puppies yet They're for em err hmm more responsible em older people, you'd have to treat them right, exersize them regularly(not sure if thats possible in Vic), wash them and look after them. It's a big job maybe in a few years time In the meantime might I suggest role modelling yourself on KOTP

yeah mike, young kids stop me from getting out as much as I use to. mainly play 'flat water fairy' at pinaroo for an hour here and there in the summer season.
