The speed stated on the video is not the record. When it is officially approved very shortly, it will be 48.584 knots.

What about the 49+ to the Aussies?
Are they unofficial?

If I saw that Hans made a new rekord, I thought why is Thomas faster and that
see noibody. Than I saw that 2 from Australia are faster in 10 sec. GPS.Sorry.
I thought, when Hans made the fastest run,and Thomas is faster:::::::::::::::::
but it is not so. Two Australian are faster.Okay ,they make a big showthe Dutchies. But my fin wait. Wolfgang

Crazy clip.

Craig Spottiswood's 10sec best on Big Sunday 2009 was not achieved with two approved GPS units for cross referencing and it was before the GPS 10sec record was established and so it's unofficial - BUT WE DON'T CARE WE SAW HIM DO IT AND IT WAS WINDIER THAN THE BRACE. Hell on that day I even reached 47.8 knots peak and about 47 10 sec using one GT11 but my track points were messed up. I weighed 76kg at the time and a bit naive about speed sailing in 2009

Dam that off is sickening, it would seem getting some air at those speeds is not so good
.......... but what an awesome day !

And what an awesome spot, looks like these lucky buggers really don't need to travel to Namibia or France any more.

Bloody lucky it wasn't a compound break either. I'm just wondering did his wrist hit the mast or did he hold on to the boom and the force of the crash snap both the radius and ulna. I love his mate who comes over and looks like he's about to throw up when he sees the break.
