Hey Guys,

Ever wanted someone to film you windsurfing going flat out on slalom/speed gear? Well funnily enough that's exactly what I want to do!! I like making windsurfing videos as a hobby & I really want to make a speed one. Here's my channel for what I've done so far - www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc8WzuqDoCxG0omtMUmPuuZqEO23lcPut

I was hoping to organise a day somewhere around the southern parts of Sydney whether on Botany Bay or Cronulla if I can find anyone who wants to do speed runs or boost big airs in the ocean. Wind speed of 20-25kts would be ideal. Any more wind than that and my drone will struggle to keep up with you. I can only film for about 1 hour (15 minutes per battery) so I have to film the fastest sailors. If we get a bunch of people together I will only film the fastest action because I only get 1 take at it and I want the best action for the vid. If you're the slowest in the bunch and I'm not filming you at least you'll understand why...nothing personal!! I have attached a map as to where I can't fly the drone. I was thinking St Georges Sailing Club would be a good spot for speed runs??
Who's in??

Watching the 2004 video bought back some good memories again. Thanks Paul.

Good luck with it.

If you ever get down to Victoria give me a call.

It would also be very interesting to get some drone footage of Lake George going off in good conditions next year.

the issue is how much wind can the drone handle, the best speed days are over 30 knts...

Paul says his drone can handle 20-25 knots.
In 25 knots at LG you could still get some great footage!

No tides....water is just up and down depended on rain and who knows what but not really tidal..
Works in all directions but its a question of wind
Westerly and southerly are the higher chancers of getting 20 to 30kts
The vid is in a NE....stock standard light and patchy....
About 0 to 15kts......

If you're still keen in winter the westerlies at Primbee are great for speed. About an hour south of Sydney.

Amazing images! Nice!I am available on weekdays and goes to Botany bay, or Manly, Woolhara...Slalom stuff.
I also make videos from times to times, have a Gopro and like to test new things.
I'd be happy to join!

Thats an old video I did from Pozo:

Hey Dutchy,

What Drone are you using, I've just purchased the Mavic but have been told 15-20 knts max. Haven't used it yet, I'm intending to take it up to Shark bay this holidays.

Using the P4 Windzup. Have used it in max 25kts. The Mavic should be fine in 20 maybe can do 25. Watch any offshore winds.... I've almost lost my drone when it struggled to get back. Have fun with it!

Cheers Dutchy,

Have you tried launching the drone, setting it to active track on yourself and going for a sail trusting it to return home when low battery comes up?
