Considering he was off the plane most of the time and logo high waves, it was very gutsy sailing!

Classic! Saw that breaking from (not so secret spot) and was thinking that Duncan would be out there, looked massive even from one km away.

dan, any news on the 'missing' gear?

I could possibly help out. do you have an email you are willing to post?

I tried the message system but I'm assuming you need a proper email address.

my mobile is 0402 851 558 if you want to send it that way.

found out yesterday how heavy that wave can be! pulled on to a very large one and the thing just wrapped round on me and took me out. the frorce under water was pretty intense. after my first serious wipeout there i can totally understand what dan means by heavy. after just getting onto my board before it got washed up on the island, i went straight in, truely thankfull to be to get out of there. new found respect for the joint.

its going to be MASSIVE friday!

whats even scarier is when you are out there on an outgoing tide and the wind dies... done that a few years ago. Nearly made it back into the bay only to be dragged back out in the channel between the island and the bombie. Just managed to swim in to the far Eastern end of the beach.

Would be interesting to go for a dive sometime when it's calm to see how deep / shallow it is around there.

I can tell you what's down there Tom it's reef with alot of holes that you could easily hide a small car in. Seaweed similar to to tassie, and it's pretty deep, well at least it was really dark when I was down there. I've NEVER been sent down that deep that fast, it was instantaneous, freaked the sh@&t out of me. The best bit is when you do make it to the surface your gear is either on the rocks or caught in the channel being sucked out to sea. Leaving you in between a rock and a hard place, literally.
