Hi Phil, I'm going to have a crack at Watsons tomorrow (Sunday) Cheers Mark

Hi Mark, They're talking a nice s-wester for Sunday (assuming it happens...), so I'll aim for either Queens or Watson's mid morning on Sunday then. Would prefer Watsons, keen as to see what wind gets in there. See how the weather pans out I guess. Either way, if there's wind I'll be sailing! But I've got tomorrow, and Saturday to wear my arms out yet Gotta love working nights Cheers.
No probs Mark, I'm just waiting to see what the wind's doing. At the mo it ain't doin' much, but appears to be building. I'll join ya if it gets to 15 knts or so. Adam, If I don't head down, I'm sure Mark will give us some info. Though I'll be there if it builds- apparently 7-11 knots now- so getting there....

Top job Mr.Hampton. NE gets into this lake really well as the same mountain that spoils S & SSW at Queens creates a funnel effect on the eastern side. But i reckon it might be touch and go if there is too much N in it. Have not sailed there yet but have fished the NE area in a boat often. Its shallow and flat in most areas and the main channel produces some short big chop. I'm not sure how cleanly the wind gets through at MarkH's clearing though in a NE as there is a line of trees that fringe the entrance to the Camden Haven River (to Kendall) that could block it. It stretches nearly half the width of the lake. But a true NE works well from Queens (Laurieton) anyway, however I reckon it'll be cleaner and stronger in Watsons as the ocean is closer with less obstructions.

Got robbed up here- 8-10 knots s-w. Though tomorrow is looking the goods-wind and waves. Did anyone head down to Watsons or was it windless too?

Sailed Watson / Taylor today. Wind was SW to S. About 10 knots Max. Only got Planning once. Main reason I went out was to check out the bottom & depth. NO WEED on that part of the Lake. Bottom is loamy mud like the Southern side of Queens Lake. Where you launch from at the Point walk out about 20 to 30 metres before you start sailing so you don't hit your fin on the bottom. ( round rocks on the bottom covered by loamy sand.) Every where else I sailed was great for depth. Tide didn't change the depth much. I can see there will be alot of PBs made here. S,SW,E,NE winds. Can't wait for some good wind. Great place for some one to learn to windsurf. Point needs the grass cut with a wipper/snipper.( I don't have one) Could Park about 7 cars plus rigging up room.

Too good Mark, thanks for all the extra info! Looks like you get a nice long run in a s-wester by your gps lines. Should be pretty smooth too I'd imagine, smoother than Queens in a decent s-wester? Keen as to try there in 15 knots plus. And very curious about the cleaness of the spring n-easters too. I know the wind was painfully light today, but was it coming in nice and clean? Definitly a teasing wind hey. I think I planed once too at the gaol- only because a swell picked me up... Hopefully tomorrows' forcast is right, should be fun times then. Thanks for the info and extra pics- certainly helps paint a better picture. PS- What are those 2 sticks, just there to mark the boat ramp channel? Cheers

I've got a ride-on, but I can't touch any of this kind of stuff for a couple of months till my guts are stable. Grass should stay short over winter anyway so timing may be OK. Anyone know who is responsible for this bit of dirt?

Hi Raf, I would say it would be crown land or Nation Parks. Its so out of the way nobody goes there. There are two old boat ramps there. Get well soon Raf!!!

Guys I have the next 10 days off work. I might go down on the weekend to try and put some rocks and road base in the track muddy spots. I would cut the grass but don't have a whipper/snipper!

I have just got back from Qld and brought my Whipper Snipper back with me - I will aim to go down and give it a cut this weekend (more likely to be Sunday) if it ant flogging down rain. Will chuck the mower in the back to just to make it look more inviting as well - she is a 4 stroke and will have the torque to chew up some of the longer stuff if the grass isnt saturated

Classic. You guys should be on more $$. Makes me feel a tad slack More than happy to throw some local timber, shovel road base or any bog absorbing crud into any sloppy spots whilst I'm there on Weds. Seems like we have Rafs' Lake to the north, and Marks' Lake to the south

BIG THANK YOU TO ADAM!!!!!!!!!!! Adam and I both went down to Watson/Taylor Lake today for a few hours to cut the grass plus clean up a new track to by-pass the main muddy section of the old track. Adam brought his Lawn Mower + Whipper/snipper. Area looks great now and we have enough room now for the Team to Park their cars plus rig-up! Plus some nice spots to look at the wind! Thank You again Adam for your time and gear!

TOO GOOD!! Looks great guys, top effort Adam and Mark! Hanging to get down there in a few days, I'm just a bit worried about the admission fee... Quick question, do you think it will be less choppy than Queens in a good southerly blow? Again, I have to say great work for giving up part of ya Saturday guys. You deserve some PB's runs there.

Hi Phil, I would say it would have alot less chop in a Southerly than Queens because it is shallower.

Joint effort Mark - thanks for your time and effort too - we achieved a lot in a few hours! New track in and a freshly mown rigging area - bring on a Southerly and some PBs so we can christen the lake with the whole team there EEEEwwwwww!!!!!!!! Next trip down i will bring some pavers and bricks to fill in some of the muddier parts of the track. It is no worries if you have 4wd or AWD so long as you have clearance. No worries in the Subbie Outback
