Seems there may be a few sailers and/or their families who need assistance in the coming days with the Brisbane floods, packing, cleaning up, etc. I looked up the volunteer sites and you have to be registered and trained etc. which takes a long time, 12 month waiting list for SES. Maybe through this site we can offer our assistance. Not sure how to go about it, but.... I am available whenever required to assist provided I can get there and not get stuck, just call: Greg 0412072419 (live at Wello Pt so southside preferred)

excellent idea Greg ditto for me and my wife we are at redcliffe on the north side so nth side is better but any where we can get in and out of is ok too phone derek 0418795075 I need to edit the above: After listening to the medicos on tv i rang my doctors, and they told me not to go anywhere near the mud and water, due to my compromised immune system which prevents rejection of my lungs, said i would probably end up in hospital with any number of infections. this is frustrating me to no end, have registered with volunteers qld and answered a call for bottled drinking water. rang salvos etc said they didn't need physical goods yet. anyone got any ideas still available as long as it doesn't involve mud water etc. ps probably won't be sailing in the bay for quite awhile either

The website seems persistently out of service. I am happy to help. I am based in Manly but slightly concerned about putting my number on a public website. Feel free to get in contact with me through the forum.

just heard on tv that the lady organising the donated clothing at the show grounds is ok for clothing at the moment but they do need hair brushes and combs. this came straight from her mouth when being interviewed not from a reporter. she said to donate it to yr local lifeline salvos etc who then hand it on. so i'm off to the shops tomorrow to empty their shelves of these items

Was at the Corso in Fairfield yesterday and the mess was overwhelming. Those people will need physical, financial and emotional help for a while to come. To see people's homes and streets in that state was really bad. Some of the older places I worked in with fibro walls and ceilings could be cleaned up but all the internal cabinetry including bathrooms and kitchens along with all the contents was just destroyed. The newer plasterboard houses faired a lot worse with the plasterboard basically disintegrating leaving exposed framework and not much more. Nasty, nasty stuff.

Thanks for the pickies Scott Did some flood relief at Jindalee today, I was one of about 50 picking up life long posessions and chucking it all in skips. Very emotional stuff. We could fill a jumbo skip in about 10 minutes. Awesome people power.
