Outline is shortened, more parallel, larger planing surface:
all these features provide the lift for an instant planing.
The concave deck lowers the mast and rigging of the pivot point.
The weight of the board is focused to optimize control in high range.
The new shape of the tail comprises no less than two cut-outs to optimize the flow of water
and reduce the lift effect in the tail.
The tightened outline in the tail also reduces the planing surface to maintain control
and to the greatest possible speed. The bridge also has a new look with a new shape
focusing on comfort and efficiency. The upright position offers better leverage for
transferring the pressure on the fin efficiency of acceleration and speed.
Go for 82 or 85 little wind depending on your size and your preferences.
In strong winds, go to 60 or 62. The intermediate size (71 cm) allows to meet all the needs.
This is the JP Slalom board range fastest ever conducted. READY TO RACE
Nice! Looking forward to my new speed 45. Which is unchanged for 2016. I think is a good move. Not to mention, Hans is absolutely killing It.
The JP 71 has me pretty curious!
My two smaller slalom boards are Starboards, the 80 and the 90.
I've been thinking to retire my old school (late 90's generation) slalom board which is 66cm wide. It was a wickedly fast board in it's day designed for course racing, very parallel and sharp edged.
The sails I've been using on it are 7.2, 7.8 and 8.4 NP RSS models. The 7.2 can be wickedly fast on it, but in rougher water is lively. The 7.8 is nice and the 8.4 sometimes feels good, sometimes feels wrong. It almost feels like the 8.4 needs more width or something, but when I get on the SB Free Formula it is nice and lively! I'm running 42cm, 46cm and 50cm Tectonics fins.
I was looking at the Isonic 114, it's 77cm wide but the "right" volume. The Isonic 107 seems like the right width but volume is lower than I want to be honest. Sometimes I head out in conditions where the wind shuts down and need to wallow home!
The JP 71 is 71 wide but with 113 volume so seems more appealing.
Looking at the sail range charts from both firms it's the matching width of the Isonic 107 and the JP 71 that seems to put them in the same box. Be looking forward to inline reviews when they come out.
