why would you class a board legal or illegal? 99.9% of sailors don't race on the PWA so why not just class the 93cm board as an isonic?

Hi Choco, It's probably to save confusion. You could imagine the complaint if someone bought it for slalom racing and then was disqualified. I think they are smart calling it Ultrasonic to remove it from the racing line. The sails have the same problems. Freeride racing in QLD (two years ago when I last looked) was limited to a 8.0m sail and I have an 8.2. I know there is no point as my next closest is 7.2. All these restrictions. Like living in the Nanny state.........

Will be interesting to see the construction as they changed the Futura without warning last season, I would prefer the 2011 wood construction or something equivelant. ........ edit and the design of the F111

They did not change the Futura construction with out notice. The Distributors met and decided they needed a board that could be a lot more distant of the iSonic so they decided to change the material and pricing to make the board more appealing to other people and expand the market.

On the iSonic materials all sizes will be offered in carbon and in wood. There will be some sizes that will change proportions. New Cutaways

@ Nonopr, Do you have more info on the iSonic sizes? Especially those sizes between current 97 and 127, any significant changes?

Thanks Swoosh. The iSonics at first glance look to have a radical tail cut-out similar to the RRD X-fires. The X-fire The iSonic

Magnus, If you click on Specs to the far right of the iSonic page just above board finder box it will come up in the adjacent window. http://www.star-board.com/2013/products2/boards/index.php?id=isonic Edit - looks like they might be doing some maintenance as going back into products is now directing me to 2012 page. Link above still works though.

+1 If ya good enough to compete in the PWA you'd probably have a good idea of size restrictions or your sponsor would anyway

they look like great boards and nice to hear what the R&D team have to say in their own words about their designs, but those interviews made for some pretty difficult listening. They might have been better to get them to speak more freely in French and then get someone like Stephen Hawking or Morgan Freeman to overdub the translation.

New specs are back on there now. Tail width of the 110 is 49.6, slightly less than the 107! Will be an interesting board.
