We probably should have stayed down south after a little surf grovel this morning,

4-5 foot bombs might have tested my abilities though,

Maris has some bit of the freshened wind sun afternoon aswell. What a weekend. Frikken all time. I actually like it a little lite, glassy clean faces. I hated the first half an hour today, just swam and ate poo. But once I made it out the back, was all time cross offshore side shore, must have been some nealy mast high all time..... Only downer, sailed by myself.

sure was awsum weekend
should have come up to the point.............50 surfers for company!!
good bank off the point.......... i was takin off on the bombers way outside
that the surfers couldnt catch so no probs (not like sat, moved em a bit). silky smooth, warm, feathering fun
arvo sesh was getting too windy; easy to get out but faces starting to chop up a bit outside.
i thought everyone must have been prepping for robe, couldnt believe no one down; forecasts show easter gonna be a good fishing weekend; nice and calm

Yep surfed it Sunday.. Day st 7 till 9ish was as good as it gets...until the wind came up and started chewing the faces up...waited around till 10 for some one to hold my hand and show me the way but not a sailor in sight! With the set so close together and size it looked pretty challenging, not experienced enough sailor to head out by myself
So settled for a 5hr Slalom session at Boggy Atleast i had fun slicing the carp in half

Was there saturday, nice smooth waverides and even a couple of jumps. Was still getting over an ear infection so thought better give it a rest on sunday.

Dont know about 1hr drive from City, maybe if you live on the south side of the city. It took me 1hr 45 from the northern side on sat morning.

I cant say sunday was all time. I got there at 12 and didnt bother going out! was lumpy and dead cross shore. Sat was pretty fun bit still not really enough wind. Have had alot of better days down there in winter with the real NW fronts.

HAHA ok the truth is that sat i was so freaking hungover it wasnt funny and nearly drowned due to feeling still drunk. Then Sun went down too late and saw Maris at the point who did about 4 runs then came in so didnt fill me with confidence! The OES boards are more then just up to the job and i cant wait for my new MEth! as for the sails asleast they dont break and i dont look like every other monkey out there with RED Hankys.

After riding my glug board lots this summer. I find Middleton so much more fun when it's light with glassy faces. As soon as it gets 15 to 20 knots its really choppy . Get yourselves some float and an up haul rope and good days on the water multiply.

Was stressed all weekend. Should I go or no. Sounds like I was not the only one. Big and light. Lots to do before easter. Excuses... Now limited wind during the week so feeling guilty.

Damn sport is so subjective. Sounds like those who saw the half full cup had a great time. I was on half empty....

Luckily I didnt

I agree with Scotty and Josh that the waveriding is so much nicer when its light, way smoother.

A few 3/4 high bombs sun, absolutely glass faces, used 6.2 on my 101 litre then to 94 litre sat, did one of the biggest aerials I ever done. Then on sunday sailed on my 5.3 on the 94, swam a bit but big long right handers, it was very very good both days. I give it a 8/10, 8/10. No idea with all the good high volume boards why more didnt give it a crack??? Nothin to loose, bit of swiming, a few walks of shame, no harm done.

I recently demoed a 100L wave board.

It rode, not much different to my 79L but it plained and handled the lulls way better.

I know what i'll be getting next year.

fair call Chris, been there done too many times as a grom.
IF IN DOUBT DONT GO OUT
middleton can smack you good; i think i ve broken 6 bones there last count(thanks for hospital ride bondy) and come close to not getting back in.
I pulled the pin one day last year; Karl was being a hell man out the back, i didnt like the look of it.
that said sunday wasnt that big, dunno what the fuss is about. it definately didnt have the punch and power of a winter swell. nothing like that day that Timmy got smashed on the rocks last year............
or april 2006 when we sailed frenchmans.......... Harry was inside at bashams and called it double mast high. was as big as the biggest day ive sailed in hawaii. think it was the same swell that broke the cape du coudic world wave record at 19m. it was solid red on storm surf from australia to antarctica; huge clean long period westerly swell in april of all times!!! remember that one Scotty??
i will never forget it;
