Not much to report from this side of the ditch this week Too ''F@#&ing cold , gusty for this old dog and Zac Point Drumond or ''The Salmon Hole'' would have been the spots to look at, if the zipper on the wetsuit hadn't frozen shut!! Good to see you are out testing the 105, how much bigger board volume can we go ? 120L for the 100+kg guys ? |

New OES 2011 Quad 120 Length 8.0'' 244cm Nose 16.5'' Width 26''/ 66cm Tail 16.75'' Thickness 135mm Out line and rocker would be the same as the board you have now I positive that it will best suit the larger 100+ KG guys wavesail in our gusty winter winds. |

120 sounds great; no doubt it will work great in waves for 100kg+
i am 95 kg suited up and 105 floats me. with light full carbon rig, have been riding 105xwave single in as little as 5 knots- and been very surprised how well it goes in waves. This is my standard Adelaide onshore seabreeze board; was finding 95 a little too small on really light days, so tried 105.
No doubt a twin or quad setup with hardcore wave rails, rocker would be awesome, especially in really fast or critical waves, but this thing doesnt give much away, then you can take it for a sail on the lake or semaphore too!!
By using bigger gear i've doubled my time in the waves. westerlies are straight xshore at middleton and wind is much cleaner than xoff nnw/nw so if HindmarshIsland BOM is saying w or wnw 10-20+ it'll be sailable, usually take off 5-10 kts for day st. Timmy's a big gear convert after watching 105- he was surfing friday while i was out on big gear; he's gonna try running 10L over his bodyweight. |

Hey Maris - you need to put a weather station and web cam on your house - maybe streamed to OES web page and then you might get more people sailing with you if we can see you out there - providing we aren't working or chained up at home!!! [/quote]
Good idea Russ.
Maris could we please have a web cam ........ |

Any ideas appreciated- Dave- got any spare cams? failing that send us your ph numbers and i will add to a text list. disclaimer......if it drops out b4 u get down dont blame me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
re; 120 quads- there is a 105 quad in Adelaide that you may be able to get a ride on Russ. See details on OES website. its a mean lookng board. |

no need for weight jackets down this way, besides body fat is both insulating and a very floaty so i'll keep throwing down those ice coffees and lovely warm bakery food. cant believe its come to 100l plus boards wow. day st impact zone does spring to mind though. |

Hey Maris - I got your message on my phone and forgot to ring you back!!! Sorry mate...
I'll give Ben a call and get some details. We will all be down south (Victor) mid-July for the Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior event at Waits so if it's a goer we could hook up with you and suss the situation.
From my understanding you don't need a phone connection (although it helps). Swellnet can webcast remotely from Waitpinga Beach by just using Bigpond Next G wireless network so setting up a webcam from you deck Maris would be a breeze.
I'll get back to you.... |

good news- Rush and Zub and ELMO we're in business with Webcam
Swellnet are isntalling a cam in middleton bay. hopefully it'll pan to cover day st, if not pretty close.
www.Swellnet.com.au is the baby of expat south aussie and guru swell forecaster (for redbull stormsurf etc) Ben Matson, frequent contributions by sa windsurf / surf fotog Fast Fredo so worth supporting. Victor swellent is only major swell/weather site that specifically gives windsurfing an occasional mention- eg last saturday.
i'll go back to sleep now |
