Weather SituationA northwesterly stream over Tasmania will gradually strengthen as a weak embedded front nears the southwest of the state tonight. The stream will strengthen further early Friday as a significant cold front crosses the state and associated lows pass to the south. Another front to cross the state during the afternoon will bring a cold and brisk westerly change which will tend southwesterly overnight. The stream will slowly ease late on Saturday as a ridge of high pressure approaches, then crosses Tasmania early Sunday.
I'm heading north (unfortunately not to sail) mid morning tomorrow so will check out Mortimer early. It's gunna be a bit different to the last 3 weeks on the reef.
Predictably no wind at dorans or Mortimer at 7:30. Btw the mortimer gate now has a functioning lock on it. You can get a key off the council or I think damo and some others of windsurf tas may have a key??

I went for a MTB ride there last weekend and had a look at the gate and it still looked as though you could get the pin out, maybe I didn't study it close enough
Thinking 5-mile might be the place today?
Bit too northerly at Dorans ATM so 5 mile is probably the go for now. I shall pack the car and see what it's doing then.
Had a brief sail at Port Sorell. Rigged a 5.0 during a drop in wind (22-27kt) around high tide, wind picked up as i hit the water to 27-35kt and made for an interesting (if brief) sail on the messy chop. Landed a few airs and got well overpowered a number of times . Messy, but fun .
Must put a 4.2 on the list for next winter, and a smaller board .
Yeah mort. I sailed at Devonport mid arvo with a 3.7 and got flung around in gusts and did lots of swimming in the lulls. But the waves were good. Not familiar with the area so might try port Sorell tomorrow.

4.2 and smaller board is usually a all year thing. Winter' spring and Autumn in particular.

The forecast WSW hasn't appeared yet. Normally that's a good flat water blast at Turners Beach, but there's still timber all over the beach all the way to low tide mark .

Agreed, but might take until next winter to save the coin
