Hi,
There is another discussion on Seabreeze regarding harness line length, but I am interested to know what everyone in Tas is using for wave and bump n jump sail sizes 4.5, 5.3 and 5.8.
From what I've read I'm way behind the times, about 10 years ago everyone i knew in WA was getting shorter and shorter,,,,,,,I'm now concerned about my length (harness lines you rude people) as I'm on 18" when they are now talking about 24" or longer!!!!
been thinking about this after goats the other day, my boom slipped down and I sailed for a while like that, but after raising it again I felt much happier and think I could raise it more with longer harness lines.
thanks in advance for your comments.

18 is very very short Rob. Experts say 30. Normal people say around 26. I use 22 in waves and bump and jump, bit longer for slalom.
You've hit a nerve here Rob, this will be another record post, I'm on 32" it suits me. If you google it you'll find all the pros on different lengths but I didn't find any under 24" ......................except Buzzy and I ain't arguing with him
Rob , search back on this Tassie forum somewhere. Much discussed.
From Memory the Top pros are saying unless they are 28 inch , throw them in the bin!!
I use 26 and should be on 28.
OK time for new lines, think I will start with 24" so it's not too much of a change.
The fact of the matter regardless is; longer ones will help you save your arms and reduce fatigue. Simply you can hook in sub planing. Adjust your stance and boom grip and arm articulation to account for the difference. It feels weird to begin with. Then you will reap the rewards when, often effortless sailing happens!
The purists say it's lazy sailing. For me comfort =enjoyment. I'm not on the PWA. I'm not trying to set speed records.
Just having some fun without suffering. You will suffer less with longer lines.
For size; grip boom, measure from elbow to boom grip=your harness line length.
