I'm looking for a longboard; Wally or similar. There has to be something under a house or in a shed somewhere in Tas that hasn't been used for years! Please PM if you can help. I know there are two on SB, but they don't want to freight.

My father has an old TC Runner (I learnt on it in the 80's). I've had it out sailing about 5 years ago, and it still performs well (for a huge board).

He's now mid 70's and unlikely to ever use it again and I reckon he'd be keen to sell.

Let me know if you want me to put you in touch with him.

Best place to get an old plastic board is gumtree. They come up periodically for $100 or thereabouts.

There is this old one at the moment www.gumtree.com.au/s-tas/windsurfer/k0l3008843 (tell him he's dreaming about the price). The ones that come up are usually a better than this one, and more reasonably priced.

Thanks. Had a look on GT. That looks like a baaad copy of a Dufour! Remember them? They were nicknamed the "Dufa". We used to Old Skool freestyle....those seams would open your shins up rail riding!

Thanks Damo. I'm too broke after WA! Time to spend a bit on the kids for Christmas. No complaints though can't wait to see the look on their faces when Santa visits. Water toys coming. Tried to talk them into SUP....but they say; "It looks goofy" Dodged a $4K hit there. 3 plastic kayaks and wetsuits for less than an Enigma boom! I am still having dreams about that boom.....Gear Lust. Where does it end?
I'm just after a hack to potter around on out the front of our place with the kids. Rustbucket68 has got an F2 Lightning for me. Should be good. I had something similar after I got crapped off with "sinkers" in the early nineties.

I've got a One Design (that isn't for sale). I'm after a chest harness. I realise these aren't the done thing anymore, but that's what I used to use. Around size XL (44" chest).

Would also be interested in giving a new home to any One Design bits.

My One Design is one of the variety with the sliding mast track and swinging centre board.

Remember those three guys (1 girl 2 blokes) that circumnavigated Tassie back in the 80's on Windsurfer one Design.
I knew the bloke that shepherded them in a shark cat. He travelled with them with all the food water camping gear and spares pretty gutsy effort can anyone imagine doing that now.
Ian also filmed it and gave me a video which eventually got lost.
Has anyone seen that video would be good to get hold of it.

Thanks to FoS my search for a Wally has been successful; After a good scrub to remove the thick coat of guano accumulated over time, some 21st. Century epoxy, (to repair the ubiquitous daggerboard case split) which actually sticks to the polyethylene...for now at least.
The maiden voyage was comical; as soon as the sail filled with a puff of wind the Wally dived for the bottom of the river like a submarine! I could'nt remember that happening unintentionally. On closer inspection the old timer had acquired a unique "Reverse Banana" rocker line and scoop! Possibly from time spent upside down in the rafters under hot roofing iron! No problem. All chocked up under some black cloth weighed down with concrete blocks in the scorching sun all day yesterday, cooked back into the shape Hoyle and Jim intended.
Time for a test run this morning; a glorious sunny start with a 5-10 Knot breze. The thought of the original rig was less than appealing after the first try. I was reminded very quickly what a mongrel those old baggy sails are to use. On the first session the bugger slammed me into the water back winded in a gust and tossed me over the handlebars like a rag doll! So after some surgery which will make the purists cringe; " A Marriage Made in Heaven"... 70's genious meets 21st. Century refinement; Wally with Ezzy 6.3 mounted. Talk about a transformation. Fast ,controllable and smooth. The perfect start to the day. Windward tacking up to Crafish Point and down winder home in time for breakfast in the sun.
See wedding pics below!

That wiil be for some 15Knot + in the river when The Wally gets too much of a handful. I've yet to take delivery from Rustbucket68. I may have to drive to Launceston unless anyone who is making a journey South is willing to help with transport
