Our annual Road trip starts tomorrow. Ben and myself heading to St. Helens tomorrow looking for any wind - hooking up with the Iceman.
Vague plan is to head north or south on the east coast, hunting the best wind, sailing new spots.
Thursday could see us heading as far North as Petal Point/Little Musselroe, then Coles Bay/Swansea area Friday/Sat at this stage.
If we run out of beam money then it's back to Deviot to teach Clarence about course racing Saturday - crack out the longboard/raceboard/anything with a Centreboard!!
Memories from last year: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Tasmania/Road-Trip/
Watch you step up there at Petal Point.....The Tiger Snakes are as big as Pythons and have been known to swallow Japanese cars and small children whole.......zip up the tent well and maybe leave out some sacrificial Beam.... then they will know that you guys are fellow carnivores...
Have fun guys !
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Petal Point.
Somewhat disappointed that I will not be the first to sail this beautiful spot.

Hey Gill. When I started sailing about 15 years ago. My family and a friends family who got me into sailing used to go to mt William Nat Park for 3 weeks every year. We spent a lot of time sailing the coastal area up that way. I remember Petal point vividly. Awesomly flat plus crap loads of march flies. Plus sailed the muscleroe bays and all the beachs around. That NE tip has the potential for a sail on all wind directions from memory. Edystone light house or a point just south of the had/has an amazing break with cross shore winds. Good memories.
Magic start to the road trip sailing 2 completely new locations with Rod around the St Helens area.
Spot one "The secret speed spot"http://ka72.com/viewge.aspx?fid=101107&tid=0
Spot 2 was at Dianas Basin, great sailing at both locations... few quick pics... got to go because the wood fired steak is ready and the BEAM is cold ;)
