Thanks!
Its a good way to communicate with people who are interested and also gets the info out to people who may not see it on here. Its also good because when it comes close you can change the date to the one you pick and the location you pick and it notifies all attending.
Great effort to get something going and I hope it can be a success, any reason that you are not planning on using the north end of the bay as an option and get the best chance of a decent seabreeze if the forecast is calling for one?
The way I look at it and I would expect most of my sailing mates would be the same is why would I drive over an hour to race in a fickle seabreeze when it cranking in the bay somewhere. Not a complaint just a question.
I know you Invy guys like swan bay and point henry maybe give us a bit of a run down on the best wind direction for those spots.
A good point. Well we're not ruling particular spots out. Just trying to spread events around to attract participants from all parts of the state and beyond. It's a good idea jman and we may look into it if things go well this season. Permits would be difficult in a Bayside location and that's sort of against the keep it simple philosophy.
At Invy the best wind directions are WSW and E. At Point Henry not sure. The West Coast crew can help with that. Sandy Point works in almost anything.
Good point Jman.
Adriano has covered most of it but just to fill in a little background.
When IWC committee first met and discussed a Race Day other locations like Port Phillip Bay where discussed. The overriding factor in the decisions on the locations where to meet the needs of the membership and run it where we could get the volunteers to assist. It was discussed that we did not want to clash with WV and what they maybe planning but if our membership wanted it and there where the volunteers to run it, Port Phillip Bay would be considered next season as well as other locations. The concept was always about making the events INCLUSIVE for all windsurfers like all IWC events in the past have been. IWC's 24/7 public liability insurance policy and accident insurance via Yachting Australia allows for "guest" membership so all are welcome.
Now for the IWC Racing Sub committee it is all about learning what we have to do to pull it off - it is all about "many small steps". We have an exciting grand plan but we need to create a strong base, get together a good team of volunteers and help it grow. Be patient with us as we learn, help us make it happen and we will see where this takes us.
The more people contribute ideas like Jman has the better the competition we can run.

Thanks for the explanation Doug.
Doug, now you have to explain why you are holding it on the same day as my daughter's Netball grand final.

There has been a question raised about insurance.
This event is about participation, but just so everyone is clear,
Since incorporation in 2011, IWC has carried a public liability insurance policy that covers the club, its members and guest members.
In previous years, the insurance was event based, however this year it is event and 24/7 based
Since the club became affiliated to Yachting Victoria, it has also been able to pass on the benefits of the Yachting Australia accident insurance policy to all paid up members.
Naz you asked about race divisions
Race divisions will be devised on the day dependant on conditions and people who turn up.
Notice of Race is up at the following web address

Location will be established Wednesday night
Stay tuned
Amber light - there is some wind appearing on Sunday but light. Will update Thursday and final call Friday evening
Seems strange after two full on days of wind we cannot score it for the weekend. Anyway final call tomorrow night and we will look at rescheduling it for the following weekend.
