I'm a Swiss girl living in Perth until February. I'll fly to Adelaide and go on to Melbourne. From then on my plans are really open, that's why i post here.
I want to bring my kitesurf gear while travelling and find spots stay a while in good places and so on...

I think about going to Melbourne, Tasmania, New Zealand, Sydney Brisbane and so on and so on...

Can you tell me about "places to go", about where I can find the wind and if summer is "the season" for kiteboarding in whole Australia...

Maybe you even want to join me, or plan on similar things....?!

The above is a quote from the South African www.speedkiting.org - similar in a way to Seabreeze and definitely worth a look.

What is impressive about the above quote is that it refers to a speedchannel the kiters have built on the shoreline in the desert - and it goes into some details about the engineering considerations including a twice-monthly "refresh" by the spring tide - VERY IMPRESSIVE.

Maybe the next WA project????

A friend of mine would like to break the current speed record held by Rod Douglas in Luderitz (Namibia) last year. The record is actually 55.65 knots.

My friend was one of the participant in Luderitz (he went over the 54 knots !) and is now looking for a spot in Australia, safe and windy enough so that he could step up to this challenge. I guess he is looking for dead flat water and a solid 40/45+ knots.

He told me about Sandy Point in Victoria but I have never been there.

Would you know any spots that could meet these requirements? Happy to have a chat if needed !

Just had a great few days down south punctuated with a fun light breeze session at Margaret River Main Break. As we all know the beach at the River Mouth is a safe and handy escape route when things go wrong or the wind simply disappears while kite-ing Main Break, myself & Marty from Delta opted for the downward run to the river mouth when the wind lightened on Monday, but we made sure we did one important thing, we kited to the most NORTHEN end of the river mouth beach, away from swimmers and surfers. After packing up I stopped in at the Lifeguard position at the river mouth for a chin wag with the lads, they conveyed their concerns, and asked me to pass them on, so here they are.

AKSA AGM minutes are up on www.aksa.com.au under the document section along with the financial reports etc.

I haven't put up the NSWOFT annual statement as it has my personal details on it, if any AKSA member wants to see it simply email info@aksa.com.au and I'll email it to you.

I am not aware of any upcoming IKO instructor courses in Australia. AKSA is not running any, but someone else my be co-ordinating something, your best bet is to contact the IKO schools directly, they are listed here

They stole a 9m Naish Torch (2009 model: Purple, grey and black), and a cheap samsung mobile.

The colours of this kite are quite rare, and also the kite has some unique distinguishing features/markings which we could identify from any other similar kite if it was found.

We had advertised the kite for sale this week on Gumtree and the forums, but have now taken the advert offline because no longer have the kite :-(

If anyone sees a kite or is offered a kite the same as this one, please contact us so we can tell you where the distinguishing features/markings are.

The Week of the Wind is an IKA event, meaning that entry shall be open to everybody
interested to take part.
However, only Australian national citizens can become national champion, and the ruling for that is in the ISAF regulations:
