He guys,

At the moment I ride a 2011 cabrinha convert 9m. I would like to get an extra 12m kite to extend my quiver. I want to have 2 of the same kites for obvious reasons.

I would consider getting another 2011 convert in 12m but as much as I've loved this kite this year I do know that it is a beginner kite and I'm also not very fond of the IDS bar/safety. And they're not very easy to find in that size.

So at the moment I'm thinking of selling my convert and getting another 2 'allround' kites back for it. However I would like them to be a kite that I can progress more on than the convert.

I'm thinking:

- North Rebel
- Switch Element
- Cabrinha Switchblade
- Cabrinha Vector (the new convert which I do still like)
- Peter lynn escape

You guys have any suggestions? and would you wait for 2013? or would the kites not be much different from the 2012 models?

Adjusted outside lines to the last knot on bar and the bar is now about a inch from the iron heart so a lot better but the middle lines still need to come in a little bit more, no more adjustment on leader lines for full power at bar touching iron heart as per manual. But maybe not worth worrying about!

Any feed back would be great to sort it out.

Just wondering peoples thoughts. Overpowered. Kites say x wind range per kite size/style per rider weight. I can understand the low end of wind range. I mean if there's no wind the kite just won't fly. But what makes the top end unwieldy?

Is it the fact that the kite won't fly properly, or is it the fact that the kite/lines will break, or is it the fact that the rider will be sent into orbit? I know there is some leeway due to rider experience and board size but at some point there's obviously a breakdown in what is possible. What exactly happens? Why don't riders like to ride seriously overpowered to get their kicks?

Can we use a 12 meter bow kite as the discussion example because that's what I'm familiar with.

Hi. I have been kiting for about 4 months now. Have progressed to be able to do some pretty big jumps, upwind, sliding turns etc etc. I have used a seat harness since I started. I see all the pros wear a waist harness. Can someone please give me an idea on the pros and cons of both. Im sure there is a reason why the pros don't use seat harness.....

Regards

Sam

Hi guys.
I am more convinced that helmets are a MUST at least for beginners. And they don't have to be daggy or way off the cool stakes.
Any advice on where around Melbourne they are best sold and with a wide range of designs? Also, do they have the same ASO rating as say bicycle helmets or what rating should they conform to?
Thank you in advance.

Yep.
I reckon learning to kite out on the water is much harder than trying to learn on land. Of course the risk of being tea bagged is greater (obvious), but you don't have to contend with ...
- waves
- crowds
- seaweed
- sandbanks (especially hidden ones)
- sharks
- sand and surf in your eyes
- and best of all... You don't have to worry about starting. Just step on the board with kite at 12 and away!!!
Of course learning to balance in water and kite control is safer.

Hey guys,

Got a few setups offered to me as a starter package.
1) 2nd hand liquidforce envy 9m kite, just had the leading edge bladder replaced, plus a 2011 129 blade kiteboard, and a brand new 2012 lf luxury harness. For 1300

2) 2nd hand liquidforce blade 10m kite (only been used under 10 times), with the same board for 1375. and he's throwing in a 2nd hand harness.

I weigh around 70-75kg and live in adelaide, but would be hoping to use it a bit more down on yorke peninsula, (flahertys beach - near point turton)
The guy is sort of recommending the 9m as he is similar weight to me, but a lot of others i have talked to said get a 10m if you only want one kite.

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

Hey all :)

I'm just starting to get going and having a ball, but looking for your perspective.

I've got entity combo footpads on my twin tip. I've set the footpads quite firm and keep tightening them to try and keep my foot firmly placed, howeveeeerrrr!! I'm pondering if I'm just taking the wrong approach? A bit more play so I can step in and out when I need to??

At the moment I'm finding my foot comes out of the pad here and there, or I'm just not gripping too well in them.

There are quite a few adjustments and not sure how I should approach it just yet, but wouldn't mind any ideas :)

Cheers guys!
Went out at point Moore this arvo in a nice steady breeze and made it in and out several times back to the same spot. How good does that feel! Also self launched and landed off a fence strainer post, which improves my confidence in being independent.

Forgot to take my sunnies off before heading out though, and lost them.
