Hey everyone,

My 30th birthday tomorrow, and my lovely girlfriend bought me a Peter Lynn Competition XR+ buggy.

I'll be heading out the Lake Walyungup when it dries out, and will be hitting up some local ovals in the meantime - giving my ol C-quad range a good stretch.

Anyone around in Perth, still buggy? I used to buggy about 7 years ago, and was in love with it, but having no car made it very difficult!

We are looking for any interested parties/clubs be it Blokarters , Landyachters,kite buggies or any other wind powered vehicle to join us at this pristine venue for a festival of social sailing,i know so of the SA guys are keen so if your interested we can starting making some plans by placing this date in your diaries.

Like what?? Last time I looked the Hydra was the only small water re-launchable foil on the market and Briskites is the only stockist in OZ.

As for your idea, at present Im a low income university student so I cant delve into the kiting scene. Sorry.

As for cross polination. I think all the land based wind sports should be in the same forum area. We use similar areas, have similar problems, more people keep the interest up too. Most importantly, always sailing on your own gets boring

2 kiters, 2 freestyle buggys, barrow tires, some big sand dunes, & a few prayers.

The video does not do the steepness of the dunes justice.

Respect to Dave, & accomplished flyer, yet only his sixth time in a buggy....... now he is jumping!

On Friday the 3rd day of April, on a very windy day, Arjen van der Tol a dutch rider sponsored by Libre Power Kites, riding an Xxtreme Apexx Buggy , while flying a 3.3 Spirit kite, shattered the old record shared by himself and Luc Stanek.

Mr. van der Tol had set the bar fairly high one day earlier by tying the old record held by many years by Luc Stanek at 72.8 mph.

Using four(4)gps units for accuracy and redundancy, the North American Buggy eXpo recognizes Mr. van der Tol's amazing feet of 124 kph or 77.05 mph![:0

On Ivanpah Dry Lake Bed in the Mojave Desert where many wind land speeding records have been set and broken, it was just March 26th, 2009 on the same lake bed where Richard Jenkins a brit, in his Greenbird wind powered speedster went 126.1 mph, shattering the old record of 116mph set ten years ealier by the Iron Duck...

We drove last Friday for 1000km to the bottom of Victoria, kited on the Saturday (much more wind, when the video is put together I will post it up here)

The Sunday (in this video) where we barely got about 10 knots with the occasional gust a bit stronger, introducing Jolli new to buggy jumping but has a good style on handles & showing some potential, was great to have a session with him.

We let him loose on the Speed II at one point, the jumps got bigger and he was well impressed. (unfortunately the video camera had been put away).

He did well in the light conditions on the Haka.

We left Monday morning to drive home, we were away 96 hours did 2000km & 10 hours kiting.

Can be when I apply myself and I reckon I have on this one but Im happy your happy JD. I got so much respect for that black kite I dont even want to speak its name out loud. I deffinately miss the manta from a static point of view but thats all. As for the buggy... yeah theyre nice and youll love it but at the end of the day its just another POS production line standard in the minimal choice we generally get in oz when it comes to such things. Beats the **** out of a lynn though. Not sure what I will get next. Still got a good fleet here including the blade and broozas but I havent had a kite in the sky since before xmas.

I turned that buggy/kite sale into a neat little kubota mini digger and 4t mitzi tipper (which I found carried less than my trailer so its since been eliminated for being a POS cost too much to tip from anyway) for the purpose of waste removal and I fairdinkum havent had a leak since yesterday im that flat ...

The Speed II would have more float and bottom end power.

The P4 would be perhaps slightly quicker turning.

The outlaw being open cell is lighter in the air, has heaps of float and is very stable.

It also costs a lot less than the P4 & S2, yet is made with the same technology, material and quality of the rest of the Flysurfer range.

Here is an extract from some notes I made on the kite on another website.

Good review, I don't have much to add to that as you have pretty well said it. I owned Mantas before moving to FS kites and IMO the outlaw is extremely competitive. I 2nd Marmans view on the jet flaps, for a high performance kite it is extremely stable.

For cruising the kite is great, park it low and you can fly it all day.

When the wind picks up I found from about 14-22 knots send it above you and prepare to hold on. A stand out feature for me is trimming the kite in the high...

Light variable winds, the potential of this kite in 15-20 knots will be off the chain IMO, usually I would have had a 12-15 meter kite in the air!

I can say that it is........
1. Extremely Stable
2. Turns quick for its size
3. Plenty of boost
4. Good float when the wind was there.
5. Aesthetic eye candy (beauty is in the eye of the beholder)
6. Cheaper per size than a Manta, which gives flyers an option for this style of kite.

Hopefully next session will have good wind to test it in properly, either way, happy with what I have seen so far.
