Hi all,

In conjunction with the next Cronulla Sutherland SUP Club surf comp coming up, Eastcoast Stand Up Paddle and Jimmy Lewis Australia will be holding a demo day down at Cronulla beach. There will be plenty of boards to try out, both surf SUP and race boards including the new 14' Blade II. Regardless of whether you are a member of the Club come on down and bring your friends, there will be boards available for all skill levels beginner to advanced!!

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you all that we have locked in a date, time and location for this year's Annual General Meeting.



The AGM will start at 6.30pm sharp on Sunday 3rd June, 2012 and will be held upstairs at Hobsons on Melrose Street Sandringham. The duration of the meeting should be approx 90 minutes. Afterwards everyone is more than welcome to go down stairs for some dinner and drinks.



If you would like to attend you MUST rsvp by Monday 28th May as we need to confirm numbers for our booking. If you have any issues/ideas/topics please send these through with your RSVP and they will be added to the agenda. We will will run strictly to the agenda and will not discuss issues brought up on the day.



The main order of business will of course be the election of the committee including office bearers. Hello,

Bass Strait stand up paddle club will be running our second comp of the year next weekend (Saturday 12th May) at Ocean Grove main beach.

The concept is you will get to surf 2 heats (Guarantee). Your first heat will be with any one, it could be the red hot surfer that you look at and wonder how you will beat him. The best part is you don't, it doesn't matter. How it will works, your scores from your first heat will work out your final. If you're in the Top 4 scores you go it to the A final, the next 4 scores go to the B final and so on. This way you get to surf with any one at the start and then you get to surf in a final at your level. Its built for fun and to help you ease into a comp format.

Where - to the left of Ocean Grove Main Beach Boat ramp.
When - Saturday 12th May.
Briefing - 8.30am with a 9.00am start.

We have appointed a coach to the club who will be doing our club coaching as well as offering private coaching. The focus of the club is to host as many club events as we can to give paddlers the oppurtunity to compete and race as well as create a development squad from our juniors. The Club will be renewing and taking new memberships on the day. Friends and family are more than welcome to join us on what should be a great start to the year. There will also be a BBQ and refreshments on hand as usual. 2012 sees the introduction of a BOP style race at the conclusion of the surf contest. This will be open to those with a board up to 12'6 in length. Will make for an interesting conclusion to the day !

our training group are having a 5km time trial from Point Walter spit to the Fremantle traffic bridge (the Classic Paddle course) this Saturday.

The idea is to have this as a fortnightly or monthly training session.

Meet at the Zephrs cafe (east fremantle) car park at 0630 and we will paddle up to the spit and do the course at 0700. If you wish to meet us at the start, rather than from Zephrs please feel free to do so.

Afterwards we'll head over to Zephrs for a morning coffee and muffin.

All are welcome, work at your own pace. You don't have to race the course, but it is a good way of seeing how you are improving and meeting other SUPers in the local area.
