As Mac would say its on tom...........

I am predicting Queensland by 8 points.....they will be 16 up early in the second half and NSW will fight back but not by enough. Radio stations on Thursday in NSW will be filled by callers ranting about poor ref decisions and not about the number of missed tackles or dropped balls or lack of imagination from the half back and hooker positions. NSW will score most of their points from kicks on the 5th tackle. QLD will run their tries in beautifully with 2 from deep within their own half.

I would like to see some good old fashioned bashing but I think that this will not go on sadly. GI and Slater will score tries and Mitchell Pearce will offer nothing. Ricky Stuart will say that the team is heading in the right direction and will not stand for anyone picking on Ben Creagh's performance.

My old surfing mate has been collecting boards for about 50 years (he is nearing 70 ) He has about 40-50 boards ranging from old knee boards to a new minimal.I have taken a few shots of the more interesting ones . this one is a 9 ft 6 McDonagh board . From the 60 s I assume some of you might know more about them . If you do I would love to hear your input

I've only been on seabreeze for just over a year and have noticed the decline in posts in that room. What happened ? Any explanations ?
I know the s*p room can be dull and boring but I reckon it will survive as s*p is relatively new and a growing sport. I need entertainment which is why I love the green room.

I posted it in the SB room be interesting to see the reaction from both camps

A few weeks ago, an old surf buddy of mine came to town. A guy I surfed with extensively in college. Both of us got into surfing kind of late, so our new-to-the-sport stoke while we were attending our beach-adjacent university was off the charts. We would ditch classes together if the surf warranted, and took surf trips up the coast whenever possible. One year we even bailed on final exams to go to Hawaii.

This friend eventually moved away, got a real job, started a family, and stopped surfing regularly. He paddles out a few times of year, but for the most part, he doesn't really surf that much anymore.

Recently he came down to San Diego for a visit and the swell forecast was phenomenal, so in a tribute to the old days, we hit the road.

Santa Barbara or bust.

We had a great time, but I could see that in the process of trying to regain his previous ski...

George Greenough and the GoPro

A statement of facts;
1) George Greenough was a very early innovator of water cinematography, including the fact that he encased a motion picture camera in a waterproof housing, strapped it to his back, and shot some amazing footage at places like Lennox Head, NSW.
2) Modern Technology took the best part of 40 years to catch up, and sell the concept to the masses via devices like the GoPro
3) George has stated that with photography and cinematography, image quality is secondary to content, provided you have original content... content that nobody else has...

This leads me to 4...
4) GoPro (and similar) cameras have saturated us with crappy quality footage, of relatively repetitive content, however there is still the odd diamond in the rough...

Favourite Beach

For mine close choice between Preservation Bay ( Tassie ) ,1770 (Qld) , Pebbly Beach (NSW ). I think Pebbly Beach would be my bestest , 4 WD access , only keeps the crowds down , camp right on the beach , nice surf . 20 years ago would have been 1770 but unfortunately the development has killed it

Looks like its the offshore lake for the rest of the week. Big east coast low developing should pump up the swell next week.

Aside from ignoring the list of domestic duties lined up, what do you do when its flat.

First effort with the editing - so do not laugh too much. Shame there was not a lot of sunshine or waves whilst I was there Its also lost a lot of colour in the conversion phase - lesson learnt for next time.

yep im selling the flow log,the egg,the 8ball and a couple off 666s ok we had a how many board quiver before and i argued on the you need heaps of farking boards to be stoked...well i have changed my mind after alot of scientificalaisming research and have come the conclusion i only need two boards.
my 85% board will be a fat bullit/silver
next board will be a dms h/p log.. i know, wtf. but im thinking a h/p single

now all that is out this is why.. longboarding is for nose rides cruising and style, not trying to smash the lip and trying to be a shortboarder. if you want to be a sb dont use the excuse of volume, im old, im injured, because modern sb or mid lengths can give you all that and a lot more than a lb can to smash the shizz up. now people buy some boards oh what would think could be a noserider that you can turn?

on the sunny coast yesterday...some local kids including my boy held their own slide comp... they are unreal skaters... and organized the whole event including prizes without any adults involved. It was epic...no fear.

Wildlife in the line-up

Saw a big seal in the line-up today. I was surfing Rincon, at high tide, so it wasn't quite breaking through the proper Bells Bowl today due to a High, High Tide. So I'm paddling through the bowl area, and I saw something fat ducking back into the water at The Bowl. I was closest to it, and I was pretty sure it was a seal... But I bailed towards shore and paddled back out on the inside of two other blokes to improve my general statistics!

I asked a few crew, "did you see that?".
Answer, "see what?"...

I told them to keep their eyes peeled. And 30 seconds later is surfaced behind another surfer, and the surfer obviously heard something and turned around, and instantly started squealing like a pig, and assumed it was a shark, and was paddling to shore, but a few others of us saw it, and confirmed it was a seal! Pretty funny though...

Saw a Fairy Penguin out a Winki about 2 weeks back. Always nice to see those little things poking around, and fishing...
