A couple of weeks ago I went on another solo mission to sail some starboard tack waves in WA. Its not often you get a chance to sail this direction over here. I'd been to this spot a few times now as its my prefered tack and thought that I had it sussed out. This is the result of a days sailing there. The swell turned out to be a bit to big and the day before I think the banks got chewed away as there was water where it normally wouldn't be. Anyway here is the video and the conditions. I filmed and edited myself sailing so a little bit amateuristic. Fast forward to about 1:20 if my waffle gets to much.

Speed sailors use this location in strong westerlies. The wind blows off the runway and so the water is super smooth. On this day the wind was light with a few nice puffs. The wind direction was swinging to the south which is not ideal.

I recently bought a Marquee for $700 off an online company.
I have not received it after 3 months.
I think I have done my money.
Has anyone out there used Pronto online?
It is supposed to be an Australian company based in Western Australia.
I have tried to contact them but their message bank is full and they do not return your emails.
I am going to consumer affairs and I have contacted money bookers.
Does anyone know how to get your money back from an online company?
The Marquee was for my wife's 50th birthday and my sons 21st.
Not happy

So what's the go with this mast / sail chart, is it really very accurate or more a rough guide line when trying to mix and match up combos? I ask as I run a 5.7 Severne Blade on an RDM Ezzy mast, and according to the chart it's the red block of death, but it rigs so sweet and is an absolute joy to use.

Now I'm looking at a used NP 460 SDM mast to run some bigger sails (7 to 8 metre stuff) and according to the chart most brands run average at best. I've spotted some Servene Code Reds that are the right size and price, but they too are red lego blocks

I cracked open the mold of a new Martin Love designed board. All that the mold needs is a light sand and then a good polish, start up the machine to cut some cores and start playing with constructions.

It has been a few years since I molded boards, so we shall see what happens

Want to organize a most excellent adventure.... surfing, windsurfing, cheap eats and beers..... thinking New Cal? Or Asia, but not sure about waves in asia....Bali has waves.... but no wind? Phillipines same situation... some wind at times, but no waves....

Fiji, am very doubtful on wind.........waves it has... big ones :/

Anyone solved this solution?

Thinking only a week...... 7 days, and 1 day either side for flights..... take our own gear....

Or maybe Maui is the most sensible solution.... but on the dirty cheap....

I want to buy the North Power.XTR which comes in 2 sizes: Small 28cm, Large 42cm
My biggest sail is a 7.8 North X-Type with luff 483cm rigged on a North RED SDM 460cm
That means a difference of 23cm. Would that be sufficent to use the 28cm extension?
Any reason why I should get the 42cm version?

Thanks to some rig setup tips by Phil at SWR (I was wrecked but had a good friday thanks mate) and a bruising splash fest near trial bay gaol practicing water starts and a new tack technique, really testing my balance in choppy water; I spent Saturday learning to use the harness with my new setup in reasonable 15-20KM winds on Kalang river near mylsetom.

I now feel comfortable and confident using harness so I'm really looking forward to getting planing next weekend if wind prediction comes to fruition.

I've got another trip to Maui in June and did a quick check on baggage allowances with AirNZ's web site the other day only to find it's all changed it the last couple of years and my current NP travel bag is A, too long now and B, too heavy when packed with a board, 3 sails , 2 masts and a boom. On further investigation with AirNZ it is ture and they tell me they are quite strict on policing it now too.

So anyway has anybody got an opinion of either of the following options and the quality of the bags

Option A, Flying Objects Windsurf Roller bag - is 5kg's lighter than my current bag and inside the max length limit so would only mean 1 bag for me. Never seen any Flying Objects Gear in person though so not sure on quality ?

Option B, NP all in one bag. This will take all my rig and then some and I would take my board in a separate board bag. Unfortunately would mean two oversize/weight charges and the NP bag weights 9kg so just the bag is sucking up a lot of excess weight allow...

I'm heading to Maui next month and booked my flights with Hawaiian airlines. Unfortunately this put me on a Quantas domestic codeshare flight from Melbourne to Sydney, which is proving to be a major hassle in terms of being able to take my own gear. Hawaiian airlines can take my gear no problem (well, $300 return which is a bit rich) as will most airlines, but after inspecting the Quantas website there seems to be a glaring contradiction with their oversize baggage policy. They state that if you're carrying a surf board or surf ski then:

"Only accepted if enclosed in a surfboard bag and does not exceed 32kg (70lb) in weight and 277cm (109in) in length."

However, when it comes to windsurfing gear then:

"Windsurfers cannot be carried as baggage domestically due to the length of the sail mast. They must be sent as freight and freight charges will apply."

I can get all my gear (1 board, 2 sails, boom, 2 masts, fin, base etc) all into the board bag, which is 235cm long and only ...
