Windsurf Sydney - where?

Yep. Coming down.

I'll be living in east subs somewhere (ooh la la) so I guess Botany Bay is the most likely location? Where else? Lake Illawara is "only" 1.5 hours away.

...3mm or 5mm wetsuit?

Just letting you guys Know I have cleaned up the track to Watson Taylor Lake.
It took me about one hour to cut all the lantana back so you wont scratch your car. 4x4 Track only! 3 sections of about 4 meters of mud in the track. I used Hi range 4x4 had no problems getting through! Track is about 100 meters long.

Will start sailing there soon! Will be good in SW,SSW,W,S Winds.

Canton what happens if no weedfin

Thinking of giving Canton a go for the first time tomorrow. I've got one 21cm weedfin that suits my 95ltre board c 25kts and can borrow another for my bigger board or for c 20kts but if its more I don't have one.I'd be using a 24cm Maui freeride or 22cm Maui wave..(?) on a Tabou Pocket Wave 78ltre.
So what happens? Do you get clumps of weed that stop you, ribbons that sit on the fin and make the board feel slow..spinout?...Can you sail it without a weedie..?

HI,

This is an addition to the camping at pacific palms thread.

We have stayed here a few times now and it is in my opinion and very relaxing place. There is very little traffic around and the water is never crowded.

We stay at Sandpiper lodges clean and simple self contained cabins, if you do prefer the camping tent style then across the lake is Sandbar caravan park, this place is off the beaten track and you do have a sense of remote surroundings but the water is at your feet.

When we are hear we rarely drive elsewhere BBQ each night and beach it all day, I love it.

Very child friendly place the lake is shark free and shallow at places as seen on the footage.

The lake at the time when we where there it was open to the sea by a man made trench this closes up naturally and the lake fills up again and the very shallow areas become waist to shoulder deep again just right to sail from end to end.

Fishing is great, nice walks on sunset, kayaking, bike riding, windsu...

Where to go this weekend??

What is a good location for a SSW this weekend?? Is it safe to sail around Kyeemagh, or at the slightly southern launch point at the lower end of The Grand Parade?

A windsurfing mate of mine (and many others) is not doing so good at the moment health wise. Just wishing him a good run of luck in the future cause he has been dealt some pretty horrible cards in the past.
Best of luck brother, we are all thinking of you.
Kinda makes things fall into perspective.

Please tell me someone got something out of today, I got to lake Illawarra about 10am this morning and waited till about 1 before the wind even thought about being strong enough. In the end and out of frustration I rigged a 6.2 and went for a bit of a sail, Not what I've come to expect from here.

At least I got out, I should be thankful.....I guess

GoPro session at La Perouse 25/4/2012

My first attempt after buying a Gopro.

No editing, no music.

Not a particularly notable session but after a month off the water it was pretty sweet.

The wide field of view makes it look much flatter and less windy than it actually was.

I was there from about 3-4pm, pretty much perfectly powered on a 4.7m and 86L board (body weight + 0).

Can't wait for a big southerly!

Hope it is somewhat entertaining.
