Myself: Not a lot by the forecast. Maybe some time with the wife to earn some more brownie points to use when it's windy.

Vale Ray Fehlberg

With great sadness, IWC mourns the loss of one of its original and esteemed members. Ray Fehlberg passed away suddenly on Sunday.
Ray was the epitome of the club- whether it be pitching in to help at events or sneaking off midweek for a session. He was great to sail with, and always up for a joke. He was pretty quick too!
Rest in peace mate, and thanks for the great times.

Quashing Rumours- RPS longboard challenge

With only a few weeks to go until the RPS Longboard challenge, several rumours have surfaced which (in my official capacity as an ethical and moral mentor), I wish to highlight and set the record straight on the following matters:

ISSUE 1)
Always a stickler for protocol, George has questioned my qualifications as event judge, and has suggested that my judging team may lack honesty and integrity and may be open to small bribes and incentives. This just simply isn't true...I can assure you that my team is NOT interested in small bribes at all..in fact this year we have capped our starting bribe at $100. In terms of questioning our experience, here are our official qualifications.

ISSUE 2)
Yes it is true that Team Kato has now finished paying off their bribe to the judging committee after they chose to use the "Bribe Now, Pay Later" package at last year's event.

Here is the end result of me being impatient. Headed down the coast with a promise of good wind. Saw a few kites out at 13th and thought i'd have a crack. Had a couple of sub planning runs out with a couple of nice rides, then found my self looking up at a massive face with board partially under water.

Anyone got the bottom half of a x combat 430 rdm mast they want to part with?

Winds West to southwesterly 25 to 30 knots tending southwesterly during then tending south to southwesterly and easing to 20 to 25 knots during the evening. Seas 1 to 2 metres.

Windsurfing Victoria with SHQ and SBHQ are running a beginner and intermediate demo/training day at Lake Wendouree in Ballarat this Saturday 5th May 2012 (10am to 3:30pm). This is an open event, but with limited numbers (i.e. 20) due to equipment and instructors. At this stage we are focusing on the local windsurfers around the Ballarat and surrounding areas, but others are welcome to attend. Cost of entry will be $35 to cover equipment rental and travel costs. We are planning this event as the new first of many to come in at various locations around Victoria.

RPS Maui trip 2012

RPS are in Maui!
The 2012 trip headed off from Melbourne on the 15th April with 10 keen windsurfers for a 2 week trip to windsurfing paradise.

We were greeted on the island by big swell and 30-35knot trade winds..
For our first 4 days so far most guys have been sailing on sails between 4.2 & 3.3m!!
With no sign of it letting up anytime soon!

6 Brave Sir Knights take off on a Quest

Six brave Sir Windsurfing Knights took off on their quest to travel from one end of Lake Victoria to the other - approx 120 kms - over 2 days. The crew was Matt Tonner and Adrian(RPS) - with memories of their Fiji trip still fresh in their minds and a few of the Invy Crew - Drift, Fireman Sam, Moondo and myself. After one previous attempt did not get underway due to high winds and storms the forecast last weekend looked the goods. The trusty 30 yo Jerzy Jet was packed in the van and we where off. Camped out at Hollands Landing Friday night with the locals in the Caravan Park calling us crazy but super stoked for us. Non Windsurfing friends where asking me "But Why?" Because it was there and Why Not where my standard answers. I was quietly chuffed by the reaction.

Saturday morning saw the forecast up the proverbial creek with the wind on the nose and only 1 - 5 kts. Massive burn off happening over at Loch Sport was a great back drop to the adventure. But we took off anywa...

Looks like i'm out of action for this weekend. I've taken a fair amount of skin off my right foot last Wednesday. when I dragged my foot across the deck of my board after I went over the handle bars mid Gybe at Bonno. Gutty based on tomorrows forecast. Maybe if the wife has nanny nap, I might try and have quick one and get back before she wakes up.

Saturday 28 April
Winds Northwesterly 10 to 15 knots tending west to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon, shifting southwesterly 20 to 25 knots early evening. Winds becoming southwesterly 15 to 20 knots later in the evening.
Seas 0.5 to 1 metres increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres around midday.

Sunday 29 April
Winds Southwesterly 15 to 20 knots tending southerly 10 to 15 knots around dawn then tending east to southeasterly up to 10 knots by early evening.

Conditions look to be shaping up for an epic day at 13th with mast high Bombie clean waves and a perfect NNW cross offshore wind building - just checked at 9am and thats on a low tide!
Well worth the drive for anyone looking for what could be the perfect day...

I'm trying to find a location in the Bay where I can teach someone to carve gybe and would ideally like somewhere where they don't have to spend time/energy waterstarting.

Given Rye is a long way from the CBD can anyone advise of places closer to town and the wind conditions needed for it to work. Is Altona an option?

I tried windsurfing a while back in Greece and have a bit of sailing experience.

So I'm trying to work out where in Melbourne i should go to buy the a basic board and sail. So I'm thinking I should look for something second hand but have no idea what I should look for or how much it will cost?

Anybody driving from melbourne to Sydney?

Hi guys,

We are a windsurfing student club from UNSW (one of Sydney's universities) trying to inoculate the windsurfing virus to as many student as we can.

We are looking for somebody who would be driving from Melbourne to Sydney to bring back two boards we bought there. They are currently stored in one of our member garage there, are he would be able to drop them anywhere around Melbourne.

We would ultimately be able to drive them to Sydney ourselves, but only at the end of the semester, so we are looking for somebody to help us speed up the process. We thought we'd ask the windsurfing community in case somebody would be commuting any soon. Obviously, we would be contributing to the petrol expenses. Feel free to send me a private message or answer in this thread.

The two boards are 260x78 and 250x69.
Also, if you know of any freighting company willing to do so, we could be interested.

Hi everyone,

The Victorian Wavesailing Series '11/'12 Presentation and season wrap up will be held next week to present the winners with their trophies, go over the season that was and have a bit of fun.

Mike Meyers has kindly allowed us to use the SBHQ Kiosk as the venue for Thursday the 12th, starting at 7pm.

The plan is to have a BBQ, run through the presentations for Open and Intermediate competitors and put on Minds Wide Open - awesome action if you haven't seen it.

The venue is unlicensed so all drinks will have to be BYO.

Should be a fun night, hope to see you there.

Its a longshot, but does anyone know of any windsurfing physios out there, SE suburbs? The other people that I have seen have little or no idea on what I need to rehabilitate my arm for windsurfing, following my radial head reconstruction. Need to work hard on my extension and flexion.
