We all know it happens here in SA, but deny it happens, after Easter each year until the NWester's arrive in late May early June with the first winter cold fronts. So to say you are a windsurfer to anybody who don't sail or know anything about windsurfing at this time of year make you look like a wally boarder floating around in 5 to 10 knots on flat water on an one design windsurfer/ SUP and calling it hardcore!!
Now it's a time to take stock of what you want to improve with your sailing this winter/ spring and how best you are going to go about it. Either it may be an equipment up grade or a resolve to ''Harden The F@#K Up'' and go for the next big move that is holding you back .
This is the best thing about wavesailing , you will never fully master or get bored of it and you can always improve.
Look at Mark Angulo at the moment @ 44 years of age, he is still pushing new avenues of wave sailing the younger guys are not even looking at the moment . I know Mark well ,he is the most...

Got 65kg of gear over there for free with Qantas (awesome) and stayed with Solosports for 3 weeks. Campsite, service and food were all excellent.

Apparently I had unseasonal weather for spring so the wind was more often on the lighter side than crazy 30+ knots that is more common around now. Definitely was not a bad thing - 15-20 knots is plenty to make the place work and the waves stay nice and clean. That said we still had days where guys were pulling out 4.0's.
It is my great great pleasure to announce that the 2012 Wave Nationals WILL take place at Woolgoolga, NSW on the dates of (28/9 - 5/10).

A massive thanks must go out to Warren Holder and Tim Williams for coming to the table and offering expertise and support to make this happen! This will be a QLD event and run by the QLD association which is being formed as we speak.

Anyway, this is obviously great news and the spring dates mean everyone (including the organisers) have plenty of time to make sure we all make this an incredible event. We already have sponsors on board to support the event and this list is growing, so stay tuned for more updates when they arrive.

For those who want confirmation on these dates, these are pretty well locked in stone as the NSWWA event will be happening soon after and this is part of thier season calender.

Also there has been discussion on the General forum about the impact of the event of the event site.
I was wondering if anyone has any advice on making a 9' Naish sup sailable for light wind wave sailing days. I see a lot of talk of 115l boards for light days and know that this sup surfs well, so thought it may be a good adaptation.I think its 125l and I am around 92kgs..

-How would I go about it as I am don't think I would do it myself ? Every time I try a repair with epoxy it just ends up tacky for ever.

-Does the base area need to be reinforced and how much?

-Is it a big job?

-Where could I find a base screw plug for inserting into board? I imagine a standard mast track nut would be too small?

-Where would the screw hole need to be placed exactly ? I have an 11'4 and it seems to be near the handle. -Is there any science to this?

-How do you think it would go with a sail on it. I don't expect to ever plane on it as there is heaps of rocker but should be uphaulable when not enough to waterstart. Gold Coast wind is a tease.

Any advice is much appreciated.

(sorry re-post)

Hello Guys:

I am 46yo 6'6"/230-5# advanced intermediate, and sail mainly flat water freestyle here in Texas (live in Austin, will drive 4 hours to the coast for better wind/waves). Danny Aeberli made me the perfect freestyle board. A custom 125 liter Rodeo that covers me 90% of the time.

I am on a mission for the complementary wave board. I sail Severne S-1 4.7-6.3. Never been to Australia, but we do not see real swell here on the gulf coast. Usually, this is the best time of year, when days of southerly flow get suddenly reversed with a northerly cold front blast. Waves 5-6 ft with a short period, gusty 20-25mph winds.

A few years ago (2009), I was in Baja (PSC), renting RRDs (pre Quads). Winds were 15-20mph, real swell generated, but small waves, I mainly sailed a 115 FSW. It was a bore and felt like a boat. We had one day of @20, and I finally sailed the RRD 99 WaveTwin since I knew I would not be slogging, and it was amazing! My first time on a multi-fin...
