Just browsing g-maps and thought these islands looked interesting.
Pelsart Island looks well sheltered from southerlies.

Any info appreciated.

I've not kited there, but have mates who fish out there. They reckon it would be awesome for kiting.
I'm keen!

Trip out there runs every year, mostly a windsurf trip but some guys kite. The trouble is the difficulty of launch and land from the boat (or getting back if conditions change). Not a place for the intermediates anyway...

??? There are heaps of little bays, islands. ??

Getting back to the original question, yes, probably one of my favourite places in Aus.

First of all this should be in the W.A section.

If there is enough people keen you could look into hiring a small aircraft big enough to carry 3 people and gear over. Trouble is we wouldn't be able to take surfboards unless you hired a large aircraft and the runway is only 600m long. Maybe a seaplane which i know can be hired but it would still would struggle to take 4 surfboard i think.

Would make and epic albeit expensive session

Not being a smart arse. But having lived on the island for a while. How well can you handle 40 knots?

Sounds perfect

aren't most of the islands coral gravel type beaches, rather than sand? A poley mate keeps trying to get me to join them on their annual trip but the logistics of kiting off the boat turn me off.

I thought the Abrolhos didn't get the Doc? I mean its probably windy everyday anyways but if it changed I think it would at the drop of a hat.

Just came back from 10 days up there. Not too many good spots to launch/land managed 1 boat launch but bit sketchy unless you've got some real good crew on board. Most beaches aren't beaches just sharp nasty coral. We saw a couple of possible good launch but a mission getting the boat in. Bit disappointing as we had some good winds. Google maps makes it look awesome but the reality is a lot different!

Maybe someone from outside WA has kited the Abrolhos and could provide advise. Why limit the conversation?
