An interesting concept Grenfell......maybe you could promote your thread and extend the dialogue by posting a picture that offers an alternative to looking at beautiful women .....maybe a pic or two of beautiful looking men who sup (like that dogman guy who has his pics on the Piros fins?)

Perfect! All ranting re: Sexy SUP Girl can be exclusively housed here with accompanying Sexy SUP Man shots...

I showed my wife the Sexy SUP girl thread. I can't write what she said about anyone complaining about such posts for fear of further upsetting anyone.

Really?

This is the solution? This makes it OK? No one believes that.

Whether you personally think it is OK to look at mostly young, barely dressed girls on SUPs, surely you must know that most women are offended - and rightfully so in my opinion. And knowing they are offended should mean that the "sexy girl" thread, and especially this thread, is not acceptable on a SUP forum.

I understand there are plenty of places on the Internet where you can see women scantily dressed (or not at all), but this is a SUP forum.

And you are right, women are not forced to read the thread, but seeing it pop to the top on a regular basis, and seeing that there are 61 pages is offensive enough.

Just because there are women who earn a living having their photo taken with SUPs, does not make it right. Whether they are on the back of a bus, on a skateboard, on a calendar, or on a SUP, does not make it right.

Just because you personally think it is OK does not make it right. Society has moved on - or at least it should have.

Everyone knows that women have been objectified since day dot. Everyone knows that the majority of women are offended by this objectification. No one is asking that we censor images of women who happen to be scantily clad on a SUP, but the post should be about what they are doing, not how they look. (And crude comments about how they look, or how they are holding the paddle shaft, are simply unacceptable.)

Whether we are genetically designed to be interested in the female form is irrelevant. Whether women like to see images of fit men on SUPs is irrelevant.

This is a SUP forum and all women should be welcome.

Jacko said:- Theres a long running topic on a kitesurfing forum about sexy kitesurfing pics, i think that a sexy SUP pics topic would be much better as this sport promotes good heathy living and a fun life style. So lets see if we can get this up to 300 pages like in the kitesurfing one.

This was Jackos first post from almost 6 years ago to the day on the Sup thread "Sexy Girl Sup Pics", so don't blame us blame the Kiters. Yes there are many other forums on Seabreeze other than Sup. I understand your point and I have only ever posted tasteful pics (as posted above) BUT body image in sport is a big seller , just look at Alana Blanchard's ASP USA Pro Surfer Facebook and Instagram accounts below. That would make her the worst offender.

www.instagram.com/alanarblanchard/

I do agree with you on the crude comments that's not acceptable and some shots are just not tasteful. This is an open forum and if anybody post a pic up on the web it is free for anyone to use. Once it's up and how it's used or commented on you have given away a free licence. Which brings us back to the topic of discussion sexy body image sells and professional and some (not all) female athletes & models use this to promote their body image and ability to attract sponsors and income and willing post their pics , which has now become the basis to this thread.

Whether you think it's right or wrong , social media is a monster and it loves the female form.....

Very well said.

There are tasteful images and distasteful images.

There are tasteful comments and distasteful comments.

Not knowing a single thing about Alana Blanchard, to me it is unfortunate that she, and many other women, have to present themselves this way in order to maximize their earning potential. If a woman's physical form is not perfect, they had better be exceptional at their sport or they won't get the sponsorship deals.

I am not sure whether Alana is the offender or the surfing industry is the offender. She is taking advantage of an environment that has existed for years, and who knows whether she is doing it with her eyes open or closed. The surfing industry knows exactly what they are doing.

But the main point is that all we can do is decide what we do with those images, how we use or abuse them, and whether we offend people in the process.

this is the problem of the problem. Putting a picture up on a public forum, even if it is a advert and no comments are made, is bound to offend someone.

There is a line between sexy and sleazy - different for each individual - if any individual finds the thread sleazy, use your right to choose and do not go there. Do not bugger it up for people with a slightly different line level.

Classic example --- was a lifeguard for years and one particular morn as I set up the flags ( approx. 70 metres apart ), two beautiful young ladies came onto the beach , said hello and went and set up right next to a flag (inside the flagged area) - took off the gear ad sun baked topless - nice start to my day!Next people to arrive were a woman and husband with 3 kids. She dragged them down to about 4 metres from the girls (remember she had 70 metres of clear beach) - she set up the brollie etc and then made a beeline for me. Her first words to me -- quote "what are those sluts doing on this family beach"

Point is -- she had 70 metres of beach to choose from - sat next to them so she could come and whinge and try to ruin their day.

you have hundreds of threads to choose from - read sexy sup thread to whinge because you are only happy when whinging

I am not going to comment about the nude women on the family beach; my previous comments said enough.

But I will say that this is not about whinging. I like this SUP forum (and have made >800 constructive comments in the past couple of years) and I knew that by voicing my opinion I would be upsetting/annoying people who I like (albeit virtually) and my experience on this forum will therefore change for the worse. And I have seen the "sexy SUP girl" thread for those two years and kept quiet.

But enough is enough.

The comments and images on that thread in the last few days (especially aimed at Coco who was expressing the opinion of many woman and men), and the creation of this thread, has gone way too far.

Having a thread with that title popping up all the time is not cool in my opinion.

But you are right, just as the little kids on that beach could have averted their eyes, those who don't like what those images/comments represent don't have to look at them or read them. But when you come to a forum to hear SUP stories, to share in the SUP experience, and to learn about the latest SUP boards/products, having these threads, with those titles, pop up again and again is offensive to enough people that something had to be said.

If you guys who post pictures on the porn thread really like women so much, why are you behaving in a way that will drive women away? It doesn't make sense.

If you want to increase the numbers of women in the surf or at races, or contributing to this forum, then I suggest that you make a good start by cutting out this sort of behaviour. Of course, if you don't want that, then carry on as you are - but I'd have to ask what is wrong with you.

This whole thing is about whinging this thread is about whinging and you are whinging. Just because three whingers dont like a thread (that has existed for longer than you have been riding a sup) it should be removed, dont think so. Don't try to bash people over the head with your moral judgements, dont like whats offered here dont come here simple.

I've been watching this post with interest.......

i haven't ever looked at the sexy sup girl thread out of lack of interest in the topic - if it has degenerated to an unacceptable level Sea Breeze should review - but are they going to do that with so many views and posts - probably not......

now if the post was tasteful and titled sexy sup gentlemen (with a great sense of humour even better) - woohoo i would certainly look.......

Having said that my minds eye needs poking out from Dogman's photo for the new fins.........sorry Roger - but hey i quickly closed the post and moved on.

As my husband says you can't worry about every idiot you come across - however for the positive comments from the gentlemen on this post - thanks guys
