I'm thinking the complete opposite.
I was just about to start a thread to ask about places on the Sunshine Coast.
Tide is good for the Goldie this week, but last Thusday it got to 33 kts at the Seaway, and Currumbin didn't get sailable.
Now, I'm hoping this week will be different, but not confident.
I'll be there late Friday, and maybe late Thursday as well.

Friday afternoon should be good at Currumbin, I think. I don't finish until later that day anyway. I think I'm gonna hit Caloundra on Saturday.
Thursday is a wash for me, as I have to go to Brisbane. I may get back in time for a late sail, but I'm not sure.

Hey haircut, have you ever been up to Queens beach? It gets great ramps before and after high tide. At high tide it can be a bit hectic - it is a bit like shearwater or Wynnum and has a short, sharp chop that can make it all a bit harsh for b&j.

I was aiming to go up on Thursday but now it looks like Friday will be the go. I'll probably only get the afternoon with work but it can be worth the drive if it is howling.

hi scotf, are you the guy with the silver ute who watched me (local bloke - sailing jurasic type gear) rig up and be test pilot a couple of weeks ago during severe rain squalls.
i'll be at queens hopefully all afternoon if childminding arrangements remain in place, 4.7 loooking good at the moment, so does the tide, low around 2 ish and incomming during afternoon i'm hoping will produce some good ramps consdidering the sth easter is building from thurs afternoon

Sounds good, Im considering buying some high wind slalom gear for the sandy point days, but still kinda unsure. What volume is it?

Dunno exactly, but it's definitely a sinker for me at 80 kg, so probably around 75-80 litres.
It's an older style board, flat, narrowish by today's standards but not a total needle, easy to gybe (for me), sharp rails, very light weight, likes a 5.0 - 5.7 kinda sail. I can run a 6.2 but it likes it less.
If I get to Burrum, I'lll take it with me, and you can have a go on it.

Scully you can have this if you want it, its old and glsss but I'm sure its fast . I can even deliver i to vp next week as I'll be down that way

p.s
minus front deck pads plus 29cm tuttle fin, I'm a touch shy of 80kg and have sailed it with a 5.1 in 25kts and a 4.0 in 30 -40 kts send a pm if you want it, no strings attached

Hi Lungs, That was Mike in the ute. I turned up later in the silver Pajero. From memory we had a great time. Hoping for the same in the coming days.

heya. yes only once. it was marginal unfortunately but looked promising. I don't have much luck with trips to redcliff and it seems the boms observation reading suffers from number bloat because the observations say it got at least 5 knots more than what i really had on the days. i'll head up again when it's a sure thing some time

2nd that hairy,

the redy graph definitely reads 5-7 knots higher than the actual. unless you go more than 500 meters from the beach, then it's a closer reading.

i'll always do sutton's over queens in a SE wind. Queens is the bomb during a N-NE wind though.

forecast looks awesome! VP for me i haven't sailed for weeks.

I was fully powered to overpowered in fairly consistent winds for the whole time I was out so no complaints from me. But then again, I don't go to queens often so maybe I was lucky. Nice to get on the water anyways. Looking forward to the next weeks or so of wind. Where to sail next... hmmm

Sailed Queens beach Redcliffe for one and half hours today in an extended lunch break. It was awesome - solid 5.5m stuff with no holes and nice smoothe 1 metre swells out the back. I only go Suttons when there is too much south in the wind. I have sailed all over Moreton Bay and Queens is the spot for me - no issues with tides, no crowds, no mud, plenty of grass and just plain easy.

well said dr gas,
might even be down the next few days with gear less grommets as childminding arrangement is still holding up
would be nice if the rain dissappears for awhile

^ tis a nice spot for sure.

sutton's just noses ahead for me in a SE because of wave riding (if you can call it that). further south at margate is similar but a lot more reefs.
