IKO Kiteboarding Instructor's Courses

AITC: 12-16 March 2018
ITC: 19-23 March 2018

Location: Surf Connect Wind & Kitesurfing School, 170 Flinders Parade, Sandgate, Brisbane, Qld 4017.

There are three IKO kiteboarding instructor's courses we offer:

1/. AITC (Assistant Instructor's Course) US$500. This 5 days course is a pre-requisite for the main Instructors' Training Course (ITC). Once qualified as an AI, you can start teaching kiteboarding, but only upto level 1D (bodydragging downwind). However a level 2 instructor must be around as supervisor. Pre-requisites: 1/. You must be a competent kiteboarder (IKO level 3), 2/. at least 16 years of age, and 3/. Have a valid first aid certificate.

2/. ITC (Instructor's Training Course) US$890. This is the main instructor's course. You must be at least 18 years of age, have an AI certificate and a first aid certificate. This also a 5 days course. To pass the course, you must attend every day of the course and pass the riding assessment and the examination. There could be up to 10 candidates on each course. You will also need to complete six online courses before the main course commence.In the riding assessment you need to show that you are a competent rider (IKO level 3).You need to bring your own kiting equipment, including helmet and impact vest. The examiner requires you to wear helmet and vest while kiting or teaching. If you do not have a helmet/vest, you can hire from us for the week ($10 per piece). When you conduct live teaching during the course, equipment for your students will be provided by us.Practical assessment is on-going throughout the course and there is a presentation each one of you will need to make. The exam will be on the last day, followed by individual feedback.

3/. IEC (Instructor's Equivalent Course) US$650. This is for candidates who have lapsed their IKO license. It is a three days course, and you must have had already attended an ITC course previously.

First aid courses If you do not have your firstaid certificate as yet, we offer courses 3-4 times a week. The course is only 3 hours, but you will need to complete some online modules prior to attending. Course fee is $120.

LOCATION Our courses are conducted at Sandgate, on the north side of Brisbane. Sandgate is located about 20minutes from Brisbane Airport. Our school is within a short walk to the train station, direct line from Brisbane city Central Station. If accommodation is required, we have several local motels/local cottages we can help you book in at a group rate, so all the candidates can stay at the same place during the course. Hotel rooms are $90 per night per room for double or twin share. Alternatively, there are plenty of AirbNb in the area at very affordable pricing.
