Price to Fish Set to Rise 60% on July 1
Bad luck if you're a Victorian angler next fortnight, because the price for your recreational fishing permit is set to rise by up to 60%!
In the first price rise for recreational fishing permits since 2008, Fisheries Victoria's executive director Travis Dowling said;
"The extra revenue generated by these licensing changes will boost investment meaning more fish stocking, more improvements to angler access and facilities, and more community fishing events where newcomers can come and try this popular pastime.”
Kids are still free up to the age of 18, but those coming to the state have also lost the opportunity to purchase a 2 day permit. All other permits have increased in price, bringing the 3 year license to $90.
Increased fish stocks, and better facilities are a great thing for those looking to drop a line in off the coast of Victoria, but will the rise dampen newcomers spirits when it comes time to pick up their first rod and reel combo?
