What began as an idea formed in a kite shop, and a plan for a slider drawn on a napkin, turned into one of the best social sessions to go down this year. They called it the Bootleg Slider Project, and it happened in South Australia.

Australia Day – always a good one for kiteboarders became the focal point for wakestyle aficionados from all over Australia, once word got out about Jordan Roberts (from FSR Industries) plan to built a pretty sick slider and kicker for a few days of kiteboarding. They booked plane tickets, planned road trips, and on the 25th of January, some of the best wakestyle riders in Australia rocked up in Adelaide, ready to hit a 12m long creation made from plywood and nylon.

Turns out, the wind wasn’t epic, but the company was. Luckily, there were a couple of sessions over the weekend on big kites, plus some surfing, tow-in shenanigans and good old fashioned dune jumping. Despite the lack of wind, the ‘Bootleg Slider Project’ turned out to be an epic long weekend.
