Since 2010, The Waterman League have been crowning world champions in both Stand Up Paddle Surfing and Racing, touring the globe in search of amazing locations and the best paddlers. This week, they've begun a new era, with the AAP. Association of Paddlesurf Professionals.

Private equity firm from Asia, AID Partners LLC have invested in Waterman League to help make the new association and world tour happen under a new banner of the Association of Paddlesurf Professionals.

"We are particularly keen to help grow the sport of paddlesurfing in Asia," said Kelvin Wu, Chairman of AID. "We also see expansion of the event formats and increasing digital media coverage of the APP World Tour as having enormous potential."

Co-investor Daren Shaw, is excited about what's in store for the event, saying in a press release this week: "I have been impressed by the Waterman League and what Tristan has achieved with limited resources. He has created an exciting competitive platform and attracted a dynamic group of young athletes for this relatively new sport, highlighting the timely attributes of adopting healthy pursuits, being out in the elements, and bringing awareness to our waterways and oceans. I feel every ingredient for success is in place."

Gone will be the two separate world tours, the Stand Up World Series and Waterman League in 2017, instead calling under the one banner of the APP. Planned in 2017 are events in Oahu (Hawaii), Maui (Hawaii), Tokyo (Japan), Scharbeutz (Germany), New York (NY), San Francisco (CA), Hainan (China) and the Canary Islands (Spain).

Right now dates and information are scare, but expect some news soon, as the pro's get on board and start signing up for the AAP.
