whas the go with these leeches? I barely scratched a car with a hire car (wasn't charged by hire car co). Old mate needs a buff. But now all of a sudden not only do I have his insurance company ringing me and me providing all the details but I have this other company which I presume is the no fault car co. So not only do have insurance gouging my insurance but also the no fault at claim guys as well. It's odd that my insurance allows it. I guess there's no point in having a hire car included in your insurance policy anymore. Perhaps these companies have sprung up because it's the damagers insurance company's policy to pay for a car if the other insurance company bills them for it, and in the absence of the hire car inclusion leaves room for these other companies to charge?

Yeah, they exist because if it can be proved that the other party is clearly at fault, they have the right to have a car to get them around. Which is fair enough, its just that no one has pushed this idea against the insurance companies in the past. Now they are springing up everywhere.

One of my colleagues had an idiot do a U-turn in front of him and hit him, and he had the offer of one of these services. He changed his mind when he figured out that if things aren't as clear cut, that he (my colleague) might be liable for the cost of the hire car. Its one thing to have someone else pay for a hired Merc, but its another thing to have to pay for it yourself.

You would think someone doing and illegal u-turn in front of you is pretty clear cut, but in this case the idiot that did it tried to claim he was not at fault.

I've been on the other side and think it's good.
Some numpty ran up my arse whilst I was stopped at a red light and my car took 2 months to fix as the smash repairer was waiting for parts.

This law that insurance companies hide saved me a massive amount of problems. Like not being able to go to work, pick up my kid etc etc all the thing I usually do without thought until some careless and negligent person wailed me.

It is part of the law and not promoted by insurance companies as it is a cost to them.

Your old mate could be taking advantage of it but for me it was great. And after all that's what insurance is for to protect people from loss.
