There's a marketing category called a "Product terrorist". It's at the opposite end of the scale to "Advocate" eg Apple Fanboys.

I know that someone here set up a BMW hate site which is cool but does anyone else have any creative ideas for ****ing over brands that have annoyed you.

My starter for ten is drafting a complaint and sending it to both the company that annoyed you, and the marketing function of their biggest competitor. In the wording be clear to add that the latter is welcome to use your complaint letter in any advertising or marketing activity.

I do not advocate any kind of terrorism.

If a product is under par or overpriced, I do not buy it. If I have made a mistake in buying it, I take it back to the vendor for a refund or replacement.

It is a free market dynamic.

Apologies to Ginger Pom as I guess this is verging on "Product Terrorism".

history of why I am so annoyed.

Fitness first magazine this month has a feature on the ashes ("we were paid to do it", fitness first receptionist)

Fitness first gym however does not show the ashes because they have a contract with Foxtel to show only foxtel.. meaning they provide 9 TVs at the behest of their advertisers and not to entertain their customers.

I wanted to write to Virgin to suggest they to do a "Fitness first can't afford the ashes" campaign because this really pissed me off. It's along the same lines as the "BA can't get it up" campaign that Branson ran when the London eye wasn't vertical.. (look on the internet)

Fitness first is on my way home and it's the best option for me, but it wouldn't hurt for them to lose some revenue and look a bit stupid.

The problem with your idea is that FF already have heaps of unhappy customers, for whatever reason, on the web. One more isn't going to make them care.

The are a cost-effective gym, and I guess this is why they have been so successful.

My local gym, which cost at least twice what FF were charging, decided to tune their TVs into some stupid finance channel and a news channel. Who watches those in a gym? When I asked if they could change it (back) to channel 9, just while I was there as I was the only one in the gym that late, the bimbo at the front desk told me to buy an ipod.

So I canceled my membership. I don't think they cared that I left, but maybe they eventually take notice that sometimes customer service is a priority.
