So after a 25year break I'm going for a sail on Saturday. All the new kit has turned up, Starboard carve iq 151 which looks very short and fat compared to the 171long and 48cm wide slalom board I used to race on. And a Severne overdrive m1 8.4 which looks Awesome.
I rigged the sail up last night to check everything was good which was an experience, getting the mast up the luff was tough to say the least, then the Downhaul tension was much higher than years ago and I used 6cam race sails, I'm not sure I'm getting it to the recomended setting without going to the gym but I don't think I need to, a couple of cm's short and it looks great.
( actually ended up rigging it 3 times to get the right amount of cam spacers in it. )

oh and the other workout was getting the foot strap screws in, very tight.

Everythings tight on race gear these days.

get yourself a rig winch, before you bust yer back or pooper valve. Lot easier to get it to the right spot when you can see the pulleys too.

not sure you noticed, you've posted in general discussion. Flame suit on before the talented teabaggers arrive....

+1 on the winch. $50 well spent.

I remember the first time rigging up after my comeback. I rang up the store to tell them the recommended sail luff setting couldn't possibly be right. Couldn't believe the downhaul tension required.

You can get a ladies pump that has a shorter ratio so is easier to pump up, but takes longer.

Does the ladies pump have a "T" bar on top or do you just grip the shaft?

The main reason I got back into windsurfing was so I could give the kids with their kites and the middle age women on their paddle boards a hard time
