Has anyone got any experience with the dakine sliding hook, or something similar? It's to go on the ion b2 harness shorts to make toeside riding a bit more comfortable. Also do lots of jumping so hopefully something on the stronger side.
cheers

Ion have their own rope slider spreader bar which would be much simpler than converting the Dakine to fit the ION system, which would mean buying a couple of Dakine power clips in addition to the rope sliding spreader bar. Having said that I got rid of my Ion spreader because it felt too hard for me and it dug into my pelvis. I replaced with a Dynabar I already had which is much more comfortable, which has the same connection system as Dakine

After buying the Dakine Nitrous shorts last year, I added the Dakine slider bar as it was near impossible to ride toeside easily with the fixed hook.

Toeside riding is improved massively with the slider and it takes all the strain off your hips and is super comfortable.
It does change the way you ride and affects boosting as you seem to pendulum alot more. You can't rely on the harness to pull you around in carving turns anymore and need to rely more on planing through the turn and timing the kite better.

Be a bit careful with sizing so there is enough adjustment space left, the 10 inch bar works for me with the xl shorts

Overall it is awesome for riding strapless surfboard and foiling, but takes a bit away from twintip riding. Takes a few months to get used to it but totally worth it.

Thanks for the replies. What about the np tracker bar? Does anyone know if that would fit the b2 ion shorts? That system only pivots rather than travelling, so maybe better for general free ride? Just not sure it would fit?

The NP pivots left right only. I used to use a Dakine pivoting spreader bar which pivots up down only, which works great for stopping the pad from twisting over. The Dynabar I use now has a system where the hook bolts through a shackle that bolts to the spreader bar. This allows the hook to pivot in all directions and is self centering via a bungee.

+ 1 for the Dynabar and Nitrous shorts. Comfortable and works beautifully. Also much kinder to your back...

But will it hold together ok if you always boost your arse off? I've no experience with it at all , but looks like it would fall apart?

I started with the Dakine sliding hook (maniac) as I have the Dakine C1 harness. Its alright but I changed out to the Ion Traveller which is a sliding hook instead.

I didn't like the way the dakine secured. Theres an annoying red tab that you need to close to keep it secured otherwise it was too easy for the harness to open accidentally. The red tab is difficult to both close and open.
The maniac spreader bar was also more prone to rotate upwards when walking down to the water or when stopped for a breather/chat with mates during a session.
The maniac would also move more during boosts which can through you off a little. The Traveller is a little more resistant to moving across so I don't notice it moving mid boost.
