So we're trying to to have a youth segment for Midwest windfest, looks like regulations won't allow this, im over this utter over regulated crap,
looks like a wake up call to all Kite schools , also all surf life clubs, and anyone affiliated working with youth and children,

Australia is the most regulated country in the world. Its a joke how bad it is. It restricts people from setting up business and even volunteering for things like this due to fear of being sued.

What's the councils excuse Cauncy?

tbh local profiting buisnesses from this event, we brought $169,000 to town according to stats, filled caravan parks up for days, didn't even get a txt to say thank you, too many want to sit back and rape the efforts of volunteers , I put over 250 hrs and paid $1000 in insurance personally to cover us, Kat rob and Dave all non locals put in some solid work to get the event happening

Amirite posts once again are as useful as a
hermaphrodite Lesbian...

Doesn't matter mick young crew will just rock their own show anyway and give them all first prize, they are used to that through the inept education system we've massacred.

Yeh the growing administrative class, do nothing for nobody, produce nothing and cost a fortune to our society.

Hey Cauncy
You do have many people like myself who have participated in the Windfest and are so thankful of your and the fellow volunteers efforts. Please don't let the administrative tossers drown you in despondency.

Mick,
Firstly cheers and thanks for the efforts you are putting in to make this grass roots events one of the best kiting weekends in Australia.

Now that that's said let us know what is the specific problem and we may be able to put our heads together and fix. I had the same issue last year with and un named event and after some discussion they agreed to let juniors in if the parents signed a waiver.

Local councils are famous for this type of crap. Every retail business person I know vents about them. They should be there to facilitate Cauncy and business not hinder.

Its actually about applying for a specific grant we are going for. If you are asking for financial support for youth events from this organisation, you have to cover off the working with children requirements. Its just a condition for a grant application, not local government regulations.

and what are these "working with children" requirements?

Do you need someone on the application with a "working with children" certificate.

I have one?

Of course even though I'm employed by the same government sector that also includes the pen pushers who are payed to manage the working with children checks, I pay for it myself.

...oh and also the registration board to teach, also within the same sector, I need to pay a yearly fee.

Create purposeless Admin' departments within a gov' sector and then get the employees of that gov' sector to pay for their wages with valuable tax dollars (your tax dollars) that could build better infrastructure with.

Lol. Reality TV would have nothing on the actual absurd nature of reality. Just ask any small business owner just how ridiculous things have become. The Administration class is the biggest anchor to our economy. Unproductive parasites.

Is it because everyone in the event has to have a BlueCard, which I know for a fact means diddly-squat. Anyone, without a criminal record can get one.

It is a bit out of control.
The WA Bombers are always asking for volunteers to hold the banner when the Mighty Bombers play here but a requirement is you need a working with children certificate.
I didn't know our team was so young.
But seriously, WTF?

I spoke to a council inspector the other day, who said they make 50-70 complaint based inspections a week.

So every time you make a council complaint, because your too tight arse to take civil action or to weak to speak to your neighbour, then realise you are making the problem worse. And making council rates more expensive.

Councils are rooted. But they are rooted because everyone expects everything for free and because the 'age of entitlement' isn't over.
